Operating the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden, and San Francisco Botanical Garden

Gardens of Golden Gate Park is a public/private partnership between the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department and the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society (a nonprofit 501c3 organization doing business as the “Gardens of Golden Gate Park”) to jointly operate the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden, and San Francisco Botanical Garden.

Following the restoration of the Pagoda at the Japanese Tea Garden, a group of Japanese stonemasons successfully launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring Tatsuyama Stone, a cornerstone of traditional Japanese architecture, from an ancient quarry in Takasago, Japan to San Francisco to adorn the Pagoda's base.

This short documentary is part of a doc series on the history and renovation of the Japanese Tea Garden.

🎶 Stay for the last notes, Kev Choice closes the festival at 5pm in the Zoox Lounge. Joined by his Chamber Ensemble, he moves from hip-hop to jazz to classical and back.

Today brings the return of Glide Ensemble, plus the San Francisco Opera with a special production of Enchanted Melodies, the 3rd Annual Flower Piano Fashion Show, and a special performance in the Zoox Lounge by Jesse Levinson, Zoox co-founder and CTO. 🎶

Flower Piano continues all week, now–September 20 🎹

Opening Weekend was a wonderful start to Flower Piano! Twelve pianos were played throughout the Garden, bringing music to the Redwood Grove, Great Meadow, Fountain Plaza, and beyond all weekend long. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make opening weekend so special. 🌿💚

But we’re just getting started! The fun continues throughout the week, and weekdays are a great time to visit with smaller crowds, still plenty of amazing performances, and more chances to play. 🎶
