What a wonderful day for our cake contest in the Presidio! ☀️🎂 We were delighted to welcome 14 competing cakes this year, making for a truly impressive and delicious selection.

🥇 1st place: Elena Buth with an amazing Marzipan-Orangen-Sachertorte
🥈 2nd place: Darlene Bahrs with a summery Pflaumenkuchen
🥉 3rd place: Robin De Rama with a beautiful Himbeertorte

A special thank-you to our judges Heike Harrison, Kerstin Klee, and Fabian Baier, who had the difficult task of tasting and evaluating all 14 entries!

After the judging, everyone gathered on picnic blankets on the lawn in front of the historic school building, to enjoy the cakes together in beautiful San Francisco weather.

Thank you to all of our bakers, guests, volunteers, and supporters who made the afternoon so special, and a heartfelt thank-you to Adda Clevenger School for hosting us. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this GLGBS event such a success! ❤️

Less than 10 days to go until the Golden Gate Kuchen Contest! 🎂

Several bakers have already signed up, and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more participants and guests for an afternoon of delicious homemade cakes, good company, and a musical surprise.

Join us in the Presidio on Saturday, September 19. If you’d like to enter a cake, please contact us as soon as possible. If you’re coming to taste, mingle, and enjoy the afternoon, simply register through the event page.

Admission is free, and you do not need to bring a cake to attend. We hope to see you there!

The German community in the Bay Area is strong. When a German or German-descent woman or child has a problem, the German Ladies help financially when the lack of income or emergency funds qualifies them. Learn more about us and join our society as a member. Together we have fun, socialize, and support our people when they need us most. ❤️

We’re excited to bring back the community cake-baking contest for another round this September!

The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the Presidio. We welcome bakers who would like to enter a homemade cake, as well as guests who simply want to enjoy an afternoon of cake, coffee, and community.

To enter the contest, please contact us here on Facebook or at [email protected] and let us know which cake you plan to bring. We hope to avoid duplicate entries where possible.
