We are excited to share that as of July 2021, we have changed our name from APAPA-San Francisco to SFCAUSE, which stands for San Francisco Community Alliance for Unity, Safety, and Education. Through our projects and initiatives, as well as collaboration with leaders from diverse communities, we strive to deliver concrete, positive change for all San Franciscans. Our focus areas of community safety, youth empowerment, civic engagement, and coalition building guide us in that fight.
Here is the official statement from SFCAUSE Chair, Dennis Wu:
"Dear Community Leaders, Supporters and Friends:
I’m writing to let you know that our 501(c)(3), formerly doing business as APAPA San Francisco, has changed its name to SFCAUSE which stands for San Francisco Community Alliance for Unity, Safety & Education.
Our new name is reflective of and consistent with our May 23, 2021, luncheon Event in Chinatown - A Summit on Conquering Viruses Together - attended by almost 300 people representing a broad cross section of San Francisco who all supported the idea of unity against viruses: COVID-19, inequity, hate, and racism. After that event, community leaders have come together to address the major issues facing our City. We are unifying behind a plan of action involving Unity, Safety, and Education.
The recently issued SFCAUSE Report as of July 1st, 2021, reviewing past, present, and future activities and programs are also reflective of the mission of SFCAUSE.
For a brighter tomorrow,
Dennis Wu
Chair"
