Thank you, Kelvin! ** As we begin 2026, we want to recognize and celebrate Kelvin, who stepped down from his role as one of San Francisco’s Chapter Leads on January 1st after serving throughout 2025.

During his time in leadership, Kelvin was instrumental in building valuable relationships with community partners, including our ongoing Castro Cleanup collaboration with the Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association. He brought fresh perspectives on membership growth and diversity that helped us welcome new members into our G4G SF Chapter.

Please join us in thanking Kelvin for his leadership, creativity, and dedication to our chapter. We’re grateful for everything he contributed and look forward to seeing him at an upcoming service project. We wish Kelvin all the best in 2026!

12/27/25: “Thanks to you, families will have dinner tonight.” - Sam, our onsite contact at SF-Marin Food Bank. It’s always important to remember the real-world impact that’s being made.

G4G SF held its annual December service project with San Francisco-Marin Food Bank . This year it was scheduled for after Christmas, when there is traditionally a drop in volunteers.

G4G SF and other volunteers were such a well-oiled machine we ran out of food to bag. 763 bags of food were packed in barely 45 minutes, which was only half the scheduled shift.

Since we finished so early, there was time for bloodies & brunch at the Cove on Castro, The Cove on Castro - San Francisco ** Gay For Good

12/7/25: G4G SF + SF Firefighters Toy Program at the Westin St. Francis. ❤️

G4G SF's elves helped gather over 1000 toys (exact count still pending) for the SF Firefighters’ annual Toys for Tots event. 🧸 🎄

Our E4Gs (Elves For Good) helped guide the hundreds of attendees through the hotel to the event, organized an ever-growing pile of toys around the tree, then at the end of the night rapidly packed the toys into waiting trucks. 🛻

11/29/25: It was a busy weekend for G4G SF with service projects on Friday 11/28/25 (see separate post) and then St. Anthony’s Lunch Service on Saturday 11/29.

All year round, St. Anthony’s serves countless meals to those in need in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district.

The days following Thanksgiving are historically difficult for volunteer recruitment as most volunteerism occurs on Thanksgiving itself. G4G helped fill some of the void by serving 1,560 meals in 3 hours.

11/28/25: G4G SF returned to help with the final stages of setup of Rainbow World Fund’s World Tree of Hope, a symbol of global unity, peace, love, and humanitarianism. The tree is hosted annually by Grace Episcopal Cathedral.

The World Tree of Hope is the largest origami decorated holiday tree in the world, standing approximately 25 feet tall and decorated with over 17,000 origami cranes and stars, each hand folded then decorated & inscribed with wishes for the future of the world.

In addition to first bringing the tree’s components out of storage from high in one of the towers on 11/2, then assembling the tree itself on 11/28, G4G SF volunteers also helped make & decorate cranes to be displayed on the tree.

** Since 2000, Rainbow World Fund has donated over $10 million in aid such as financial grants, food, clothing, water, medicine, medical equipment, and school supplies, and has provided more than 105,000 hours of volunteer service.

RWF raises LGBTQ+ awareness of humanitarian needs, channels LGBTQ+ contributions to effective grassroots organizations in over 30 of countries, and says to aid recipients that our LGBTQ+ community exists and that it cares.
