Hailing on all frequencies, Shipmates. As of Stardate 99240.2 I was honored to assume the post of Master Chief Petty Officer of STARFLEET. Bravo Zulu to Master Chief David R. Shorey for his outstanding dedication to the fleet and the enlisted community in initiating the MCPOSF role.

The role of the MCPO of STARFLEET is to serve as the senior enlisted advisor to Commander, STARFLEET and advocate for the morale, welfare and recruitment of our vital enlisted members.

I look forward to working with the Admiralty Board and all STARFLEET members. The Goat Locker is always open but as a reminder- especially for the newly commissioned junior officers- you're always going to want to knock before entering.

Greetings,

Today I submitted my resignation as Master Chief Petty Officer of STARFLEET to Fleet Admiral Parmley.

My day job has become quite busy and with Covid transition to less restrictive times, I suspect that will only increase. I felt it best to step aside for someone who is able to focus the time and attention needed to make the post fully successful.

I will remain a member of STARFLEET and a crew member of the USS Wessex and hope that at some point in the future I may return to a fleet service position.

In my resignation letter, I stated that I would serve until a replacement is appointed. I understand that a posting on the HR site is very soon forthcoming.

While a brief tenure, it has been a distinct honor to serve. I am grateful to all those who have been supportive of me in this position. I wish to particularly thank Steven Parmley for his faith and confidence, Lauren White for her wise counsel, and Russell Camp, who during our brief friendship, taught me about the greatness of humanity.

Be kind and gentle with each other, and yourselves.

I deeply mourn the death of Captain Russell Camp III. It was an honor to serve and work with him. He was an exemplary STARFLEET member and I cherish the time I had to spend with him.

Greetings all,
As you may have seen posted, Commander STARFLEET Fleet Admiral Steven Parmley has created a new position to focus on building up the enlisted ranks of STARFLEET. This position is the Master Chief Petty Officer of STARFLEET (MCPOOSFI). I have accepted the honor and privilege of serving in this position for the remainder of the current CS's term.

To better define the purpose of the position, I have developed the following Mission, Vision, and Values for the office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of STARFLEET:

The Mission of the office of Master Chief Petty Officer of SFI is to advise the Commander, STARFLEET and the Executive Committee regarding issues affecting the enlisted ranks, be an advocate and ombudsman for the enlisted ranks in all areas of their duties, and to provide leadership and guidance for the development of the enlisted ranks of STARFLEET.

The Vision of the office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of SFI is a STARFLEET where enlisted ranks are an integral part of the organization and where their ideas, concerns, and needs are listened to, taken seriously, and addressed.

Values: Fun, Integrity, Honor, Diversity, Learning, Adventure, Service

Over the course of the next few months, I will be reaching out to all regions, chapters, and crews to gain a greater understanding of our current enlisted membership, gather ideas for further development of enlisted membership, and work to identify policy and system changes that will support the development of the enlisted ranks.

I appreciate that there is some history and some discontent regarding some past efforts around enlisted ranks in STARFLEET. I am hopeful that we can look forward and not dwell on the drama of the past in this effort.
