UWUA Local 522 Utility Workers Union of America Local 522 represents employees of Southern California Gas Company (So Cal Gas)

Local 522 of the Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), is an independent local proudly representing the Technical and Professional Employees of the Southern California Gas Company. We bargain for a fair and just collective bargaining agreement for all represented employees along with UWUA Local 483 (Transmission and Storage), and the Joint Bargaining Unit comprised of UWUA Local 132 and the Int

ernational Chemical Workers Union Council (ICWUC) Locals 350, 995 and 478. Classifications that are exclusively represented by Local 522 are the:

Industrial Service Technicians, Pipeline Planning Assistants, Planning Associates, Lead Planning Associates, System Protection Technicians, System Protection Specialists, System Protection Planners, Lead System Protection Specialists, Laboratory Assistants, Laboratory Technicians, Lead Laboratory Technicians, Measurement Technicians #1, Lead Measurement Technicians, Mapping Aides, Mapping Assistants, Mapping Associates, Electronic Energy Measurement Technicians, NGV Station Technicians.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King was not only a civil rights leader, but a fierce advocate for economic justice and workers’ rights. He believed that dignity on the job, fair wages, and safe working conditions were essential to true freedom.
He was assassinated in 1968 while standing in solidarity with striking sanitation workers in Memphis — a powerful reminder that the fight for racial justice and the fight for labor justice are deeply connected.
This MLK Day, we recommit ourselves to the values Dr. King lived and died for: solidarity, equity, and justice for all working people.

Local 522 member, Angel Sanchez shares some insight from this year on how he made an impact as a union member:
“A highlight for me was helping to bring the Mobile Home Park (MHP) Project planning work back to our membership.
After three years of making our case, in June 2025, SoCal Gas finally restored the MHP planning work to Local 522 members.
It has been a tremendous collaborative effort — and a proud moment — to work alongside our leadership to bring this important work back to our members.”
