BGSA serves as a support network for graduate students of African descent and provides resources that will enhance academic and career success of current graduate and professional students. BGSA will also serve in developing a network of emerging scholars of African descent who are dedicated and sensitive to the needs and concerns of an increasingly diverse academic community.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States...

Over the weekend,
BGSA President Tanisha-Jean Martin,
BGSA Vice President Watkins,
and BGSA Public Relations Chair Stephenie Knox, paid respect to the ancestors and the end of slavery in 1865 by representing at the 2018 Annual Juneteenth Celebration, hosted by The Cooper Family Foundation in San Diego, CA.
