Happy first day of June! We hope you are well and are happy to share a song with you from the orphanage. So happy each of them have recovered from their illness and are getting back to normal life. Last month we raised $1,984.20. We are so grateful for your loving support each month by way of encouraging messages, thoughtful prayers and monetary donations. All donations go directly to funding the and running of the children’s home, providing for their daily needs such as food, housing, medical care, schooling and more. To see these kids who have grown up before our eyes in the last few years has been nothing short of incredible and we are happy to share it with you all here. Whether you’re nearby or a thousand miles away…we 🫶🏽 you. ❤️

It all seems so surreal now that the kids are back to normal health again. It’s been an arduous couple of months. Ones not filled with great news. Just holding our breath until the illness passed. But today we celebrate THIS. A simple video of gratitude, of hope, of endurance, and strength. A video of happiness and of impact. Whether you know it or not, you donations, love, and prayers result in THIS outcome. Children whose lives are forever changed. Can you see it in their eyes? We can. We’re reminded that these children are now given a home, a hope, an opportunity to smile and be happy. We’re reminded that simple enjoyments of life are different for each person and that even having the daily essentials in life is privilege. We grateful to each of you who follow us, donate to our cause, interact with posts, pray for us to keep this vital work going. It’s not easy but today we are grateful for health and happiness. What are you grateful for today?

There is such a beautiful joy in hearing children sing, dance, laugh, and simply be kids. After coming from such difficult backgrounds and heartbreaking circumstances, moments like these mean so much.

Watching them play freely, smile genuinely, and enjoy childhood the way every child deserves fills our hearts with overwhelming joy and gratitude. These moments remind us why this mission matters so deeply.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support, pray for, and love these children. Because of you, they are experiencing more safety, care, healing, and the simple joy of being children again. ❤️ we are grateful to be a part of this work.

It’s been a while since our last post update and we finally have a good report to share! The past two months have been some of the most difficult ever face and out of respect and care we have been quiet on posting and newsletters. We are happy to finally be able to report that after a LONG difficult battle with Malaria everyone is FINALLY on the mend and doing better.

We’ve been quiet as we held our breath through a severe outbreak of malaria that deeply impacted the children, staff, and their families. The staff has worked tirelessly—often while sick themselves—to continue caring for the children, and even some cases required hospitalization. Just as there began to see light at the end of the tunnel with Malaria, a wave of chicken pox followed.🥴😵‍💫

In all our years, we have never experienced a season of illness like this. It has been long, heavy, and exhausting—but also filled with resilience, love, and unwavering commitment to these children.

We want to express our deepest gratitude for every prayer, every donation, every message of encouragement, and your patience during our silence. Your support has carried us through more than you know.

We are incredibly grateful to share that everyone is finally on the mend. 💛

We’ll be sharing more updates via newsletter and posts soon.

Asante sana (thank you very much).

Prayers still needed for recovery at the orphanage. HEALTH UPDATE: Many of us will never personally face malaria — but right now is malaria season in Kenya. Mama is still sick along with the kids, Judy’s whole family, and two of Collins’ boys are all battening malaria. Collins has been tirelessly caring for everyone at their perspective homes like patients in a hospital ward. They can all use some words of encouragement, strength, and prayers for endurance. Parents…you know what it’s like trying to still take care of kids when you’re not feeling well yourself…Mikey and Simon have had it the worst so far. Last week we mentioned they had to be rushed to the hospital for injections and medication.
Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease that spreads quickly during rainy season with the amount of stagnant water. It often begins like a bad flu — fever, cough, extreme weakness, loss of appetite — but while it looks like the flu, the infection can continue multiplying in the body if not properly tested and treated. When severe, it can require stronger medication, injections, and weeks of recovery. For those with weaker immune systems, it can become life-threatening.
Currently, everyone is still on medication and working to regain their strength. Appetites are still low. So please keep them in your prayers.
Medical care, proper testing, and nourishing meals are absolutely essential right now. Walking through this season requires extra time, energy, and unexpected medical expenses.
If you feel moved to help offset these added costs, say a prayer, or to send a private get well video of love motivation and love helps to know they are being thought about around the world. Please dm or we are grateful to you all for following this journey. Know your support truly makes a difference during this time. 💛

We are truly overwhelmed — in the very best way. 💛
To everyone who has responded, shared, prayed, and donated to help cover the unexpected medical expenses at the orphanage… you came THROUGH.
In just the last few days, we have raised $950 to support the urgent needs caused by widespread illness and multiple malaria cases among the children and staff. Your generosity means these much-needed funds will be on their way by next week, helping cover treatments and care during a really difficult season.
Malaria is unfortunately common in Kenya, but that doesn’t make moments like this any easier. When illness spreads quickly, the financial strain follows just as fast — and because of you, they are not facing it alone.
We are beyond grateful for every donation, every prayer, every newsletter shared, every post reposted, and every story told on their behalf. Your kindness is tangible. Your compassion is powerful. And your willingness to step in so quickly has warmed our hearts more than you know. There’s still time to donate for funds to go next week. Click the link in bio to donate!
From the bottom of ours — and from theirs — thank you for standing with them. Please continue to keep the children and staff in your prayers as they recover. 💛

We are asking for your prayers and positive thoughts for our orphanage community right now.
Mikey and Simon were rushed to the hospital a few days ago for emergency malaria treatment — an illness that can hit children especially hard in Kenya. At the same time, several staff members have also fallen ill, making this an incredibly challenging season for everyone involved.
Many of us know how difficult it is to care for children while being sick ourselves. We ask that you please keep the children and caregivers in your prayers for strength, healing, and a quick recovery.
Due to these unexpected hospital visits and treatments, medical expenses have quickly added up. If you are able to support by making a donation any amount — no matter how small — would make a meaningful difference. Funds received by Thursday will be distributed next week to help cover these urgent needs. When donating on Zeffy, make sure to put the optional additional fee to zero.
Thank you for your continued love and support. 🙏🏽

Mama Jessica (a.k.a. Mama Africa) is the heart of the orphanage. She has the biggest heart to do this work. Not only has she raised kids and grandkids of her own, but also raised so many more children throughout the last 13 years of doing this work. To raise these kids as her own and give them a home, a mother, and a family. To dignify these children in beautiful clothing when they’re able to is such a treat. While most funding and donations for most African projects come from seeing malnourished and emaciated children, our goal is to give them dignity and show the love and care that are shown to them. What do think? Are they looking spiffy?
