The tension in our country is undeniable right now. Emotions are high, and perspectives vary widely. Many of us are watching, engaging, or even participating in the protests and discussions surrounding immigration. And naturally, we each view this issue through the lens of our own experiences and beliefs.
It's easy to share opinions without fully considering the hearts and lives of others—I've done it myself. Today, though, I was reminded of something deeply important that I had overlooked: the heart of God on this matter.
Leviticus 19:33-34 says,
“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”
This scripture hit me hard. Immigrants are not our enemies. They are our neighbors—many are our friends, co-workers, family members, and fellow human beings made in the image of God. Like us, they’re just trying to live, to survive, and to provide a better life for their families.
Yes, there are real challenges. Yes, some have made mistakes—just as we all have. But we are called, above all, to love.
I don’t have all the answers to the crisis we face, but I do believe this: if we, as a people, can choose compassion over division, empathy over judgment, and love over fear, then healing and unity can begin. Let’s remember who we are called to be—and LOVE 'UR NEIGHBOR
Thank You Cassandra
