Attention D9 Residents!

To prepare for the El Niño storm, there will be a limited supply of free prefilled sandbags available at two locations from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM:

City Heights Recreation Center:
4380 Landis St

Stockton Recreation Center:
330 32nd St

1000 pre-filled sandbags available at City Heights Recreation Center and 400 pre-filled sandbags available at Stockton Recreation Center.

LIMIT: 10 sandbags per household

Rolando Park/Redwood Village Community Council Meeting | October 12th, 2026

This month, we’ll be joined by Allie McCarthy, Deputy Director for Groundwork. Groundwork has been our community partner on several efforts in the last few years, including the Rolando Park Gateway at College Ave/College Grove Dr. Groundwork not only designed the Gateway project, but obtained the necessary city permits and secured grant funding that made this project possible.

Most recently, we’ve been working with Allie on a solution to the Rolando stormwater drain channel flooding and Redwood Village has been working with Allie on converting a vacant lot at University Ave/60th into a pocket park.

We’ve invited Allie to talk with us about our current and future projects and volunteer opportunities for the community like tree planting.

The Cover to Cover Club is back at San Diego Public Library! 🍔💛❤️

Now through Nov. 14, children 4 to 12 years old may sign up online or in-person and start earning their way to free hamburgers, cheeseburger and grilled cheese sandwiches. All it takes is reading 5 books or reading up to 300 minutes.

🤫 Plus, participants can earn up to 3 total burgers by repeating the challenge.

New Little Free Library

Yesterday, we hosted a sweet ribbon-cutting ceremony with our Rolando Park Girl Scout Troop 5403. The troop recently completed building and installing a Little Free Library at the Rolando Park Elementary Joint Use Parking lot.

We couldn’t be more proud of this troop. Many of them also volunteer at our community and school cleanups.

RPCC is providing the Little Free Library Charter Sign and board member Joyce (thank you!) also donated new books to help launch the newest library in Rolando Park.

We now have nine Little Free Libraries in Rolando Park plus a Little Free Art Gallery! Check them out on your neighborhood walks.

The air conditioned Oak Park Library and the College-Rolando Library will be open tonight and tomorrow night until 8 pm and Sunday from 12 to 8 pm for anyone who needs a break from the heat.

Goat Watch

A few pics for those of you who couldn't make it to Rolando Park Elementary yesterday to see the goats in Zena Canyon.

They are still there today, doing a great job on brush mitigation in the canyon.

Thanks to Rolando Park Elementary for sharing this event with the community.
