Although there has been a steady decline in deforestation in the Amazon over the last few years, the fight to preserve what remains continues. With the Amazon shifting to a “hypertropical” state, it is more important than ever for deforestation to end regeneration to begin.

The Amazon is one of the most bio-diverse environments on the planet and is not only the home to a large variety of plant life, but insects and animals as well. This butterfly is known as the Brazilian Owl (Scientific Name: Caligo Brasiliensis) The photo was captured near the village of New Hope. This particular butterfly is larger than the size of the average male human hand - open wide. A rare sight to most and another reminder why it is so important to protect the forest.

Looking Back - Most of the journeys made to New Hope village are made over miles of the Amazon by riverboat, but one of our first visits brought us to the village by air and the view below was nothing short of spectacular.

The people most qualified to protect the Brazilian Amazon are the indigenous peoples. They hold within their culture thousands of years of knowledge and experience with preservation, maintenance and conservation. They do not just live in harmony with nature, they are one with it. Consider making a donation today to help the New Hope Project. We are providing essential needs to the indigenous peoples, helping them embrace the future while maintaining their roots and preserving their past.

Neko takes a moment to reflect during his first visit to the New Hope Village. The journey alone was exhausting, but well worth the effort.

The New Hope Project is unification of ideas old and new. We are providing non-invasive, green technology, but we are also advocating for cultural preservation and are taking steps to ensure the future of the indigenous peoples is in alignment with the past. Constructing a Shuhu or cultural center for congregation, celebration and education is an essential objective of our efforts. But there is more to come, including clean riverboat transportation for travel between indigenous nations and developing a Nipei or medicine garden. Follow us on our journey.

Riverboats are essential to the indigenous people of the Amazon. With long tail motors equipped with rechargeable batteries, powered by the sun, both the dependency on fossil fuels and the pollution associated with them are eliminated. The New Hope Project is working to make this a reality. Please consider making a donation to our fund-raising campaign today so we can continue our efforts to improve the lives of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.

The New Hope Project received a sizable donation of tools from DeWalt and we need your help to get these tools shipped to the village of New Hope. These re-chargeable electrical tools are part of our clean energy initiative and will utilize the solar power infrastructure set in place during our Phase I development. Please contribute to our Phase II fund-raising campaign today so we can continue to improve the lives of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.

Today we are starting a fundraising campaign called Overflow. Phase II of the New Hope Project reached a shortfall in funding since the inception of the new Shuhu for Aldeia Esperança village began two years ago. We need to raise $50,000.00 to complete additional Phase II objectives, in addition to completing the Shuhu, before we can begin Phase III.⁣

These objectives include:⁣

- Shipping a crate of re-chargeable electric tools to Cruzeiro Do Sul⁣

- Shipping and testing a Prototype EV Riverboat Motor for testing on the Gregório⁣

- Installation of a Solar-Powered Water Well⁣

Help us continue to make a difference in the lives of the indigenous peoples by making a contribution today. Thank you for your support!
