Three generations of Aztecs, one incredible legacy. 🎓♥️
Mother and daughter duo Marceline Sciuto ('84, '94, '26) and Micaela Ruiz ('26) crossed the graduation stage together this past weekend at San Diego State University's 2026 Commencement.
Marceline earned her doctorate in educational leadership, 41 years after receiving her undergraduate degree from SDSU and decades after earning her master’s from the university as well, making her a proud triple alumna. Beside her in this milestone moment was her daughter, Micaela, who celebrated earning her MBA.
Their story began with Marceline’s father, who spent 17 years taking night classes before graduating from SDSU in 1975. Though he passed away earlier this year, his determination and love for education continue to inspire the generations that followed. Marceline's other daughter Angelina ('25), earned her master's degree from SDSU, and the family includes numerous other .
Their story is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and that some legacies only grow stronger with time.
