More than 200 students and staff at Monarch School San Diego enjoyed a community BBQ hosted by The Salvation Army Centre City Corps! ❤️🍔

A heartfelt thank you to Kiwanis San Diego and SDHS Key Club for volunteering their time to help prepare and serve the meal. Your support made this event possible.

As we continue our transition from our longtime Centre City Corps building to the future Salvation Army Rady Center, we remain committed to serving our neighbors and strengthening partnerships with organizations that share our mission. We are grateful for every opportunity to come together and support our community.

After 52 years of ministry at our Salvation Army Centre City San Diego Corps, we recently marked the beginning of a new chapter as we said goodbye to our building at 825 7th Avenue. ❤️

Following worship, our congregation celebrated six new discipleship graduates before marching together to our temporary home, where we planted our Salvation Army flags as a symbol of hope and faith for the journey ahead.

Our longtime Centre City Corps building will soon be demolished to make way for the future Salvation Army Rady Center, a transformational campus that will expand The Salvation Army's ability to serve individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown San Diego for generations to come. While construction is set to soon begin on this exciting new chapter, our ministry is simply moving to a temporary home.

Our mission has not changed. We look forward to continuing to worship, serve, and care for our downtown community from our temporary location at:

📍 730 14th Street, Suite 100

The building may be changing, but our commitment to serving our neighbors remains as strong as ever. We look forward to welcoming you as we continue this journey together.

This week, NBC7 visited The Salvation Army Centre City - San Diego location to hear firsthand how lives are being transformed and to get a glimpse of the future home of The Salvation Army Rady Center. 🙌

Gentry Jeffries, a former client turned advocate, gave a heartfelt tour and shared his journey from addiction and homelessness to hope and healing. “I slept in front of this very building for 18 years,” Gentry shared. “But through The Salvation Army, I found purpose, recovery, and a place to call home.” Stories like his remind us why this work matters and why the future Rady Center is so important.

With nearly 200 shelter beds, a health clinic, food pantry, chapel, and permanent low income housing, the Rady Center will help even more San Diegans break free from homelessness and find lasting transformation.

🙏 Thank you, NBC 7 San Diego, for helping share this story and shine a light on the work we are called to do. We cannot wait to continue the work, bigger and better, when the Rady Center opens in fall 2028.
