About Sunday evening at the Black & Gold Gala; I was truly grateful & honored to receive the 2026 Humanitarian Award from Roosevelt Williams III & YB NB! It was a Fabulous Evening of Excellence in the room! Congratulations to all the honorees! A big shot out to Rochelle Porterer for nominating me, my partner Dr Suzanne Afflalo and all my amazing sistahs who came out to support me Rosalyn, Marilyn, & my community partner Samantha! 🩵 Heart disease is the #1 killer in the USA, and diabetes is a significant risk factor for heart disease. Symptoms of Diabetes include: frequent urination, increased thirst, increased hunger, blurred vision, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and recurrent infections. It is important to know your numbers: blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol‼️

Health Equity in Action:
UC San Diego Health Equity (UCSD) highlights Many Shades of Pink's work in the community for access to clinical breast exams, screening mammograms, breast cancer support & resources in the disadvantaged & undeserved community through the monthly Community Health & Resource Fair the first Wednesday of every month. Many Shades of Pink not only addresses the health disparities but also strives to bring Community & clinical trials together to help decrease the mortality in Women of Color through partnerships with UCSD & SDSU.

🩷 African American women tend to be diagnosed with a more aggressive form of breast cancer subtype called, "Triple Negative," (TNBC) and are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women!
