"Few structures evoke such varied emotions as the sight of a weathered lighthouse standing firm against an incoming tide. Without these tall, circular towers set along the shore, California wouldn’t be what it is today." Check out this article by our very own Ian Lazarus from Flotilla 114-01-01.

Without these tall coastal towers, California wouldn't be what it is today.

The Auxiliary didn't start the fire...
..But it does know how to fight it!

Understanding how to operate a fire extinguisher is critical to ensuring your boating safety. Make sure that the fire extingushers aboard your boat haven't expired and are in good operating condition so they don't fail in a hot moment!

Happy 235th Birthday to the United States Coast Guard!

As proud members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, we are honored to support the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard who stand the watch — safeguarding our nation's shores, safeguarding our waterways, and defending our national interests at home and abroad.

Their bravery and selfless service inspire us everyday.

Here’s to 235 years of being Semper Paratus — and to many more.

Hi Everyone- a tsunami is occurring in the Pacific Ocean tonight. This is the most significant event we've seen in some time. It is _not_ the same thing as recent alerts near California in December, or Alaska a few weeks ago.

🔴A Tsunami Warning is in effect for the Western Aleutians and Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea, and a Warning continues for Northern California.
🟠A Tsunami Advisory is in effect for the Western Aleutians.
These will change through the night as more information is observed.

We must wait for tsunami waves to drop below our advisory levels (about 1/3 of a foot / 30cm) before removing your alert status.

A tsunami is occurring and has been measured in the Western Aleutians tonight:
22 cm / 0.8 ft in Amchitka, AK, and
24 cm / 10cm in Adak, AK.

If you are in an alert area, follow local Emergency Management instructions and stay tuned through the night.

Stay safe. Our latest information from U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) is at tsunami.gov through the night.

The Coast Guard is renaming its operational districts to more accurately describe the regions they serve and represent. Renaming operational districts revises a numbered system established during World War II. Within the Coast Guard’s renewal through Force Design 2028 – the Service’s largest strategic and structural overhaul since World War II – this change will more clearly align districts with their areas of responsibility, and enhance our service to the American public and maritime stakeholders. Now, all of our districts will be known by the geographic regions they serve.

District 1: USCG Northeast District
District 5: USCG East District
District 7: USCG Southeast District
District 8: USCG Heartland District
District 9: USCG Great Lakes District
District 11: USCG Southwest District
District 13: USCG Northwest District
District 14: USCG Oceania District
District 17: USCG Arctic District

On day two of Operation Dry Water, we remind you to not boat and drink.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, alcohol use is the leading factor in over 23% of deaths on the water.

Be smart, boat sober, and stay safe.
