Our Director of Advancement, Jill Weber, attended NBC 7 and Telemundo 20's Community Engagement Breakfast, where local nonprofit leaders gathered to share the stories, challenges, and successes shaping our region.

We were grateful to highlight the Foundation's work and discuss the barriers and opportunities facing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties. These conversations are vital to building greater awareness, understanding, and inclusion in our communities.

A special thank you to the NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 team for taking the time to listen, learn, and engage with organizations serving some of our region's most underrepresented populations. Your commitment to community engagement and storytelling helps shine a light on important issues and the people behind them.

Celebrating Opportunity, Achievement, and Future Success! 🎓✨

Yesterday, we had the privilege of gathering with our 2026 Dr. Raymond M. Peterson Scholarship recipients and hearing firsthand about their academic journeys, career aspirations, and dreams for the future.

From higher education and professional goals to making a difference in their communities, each student shared an inspiring vision for what lies ahead. We were honored to learn how scholarship support helps remove barriers and creates pathways to greater opportunity, independence, and success.

Congratulations to this remarkable group of students. Your determination, talents, and goals inspire us, and we are proud to be part of your educational journey.

Today, September 15, is officially "Foundation for Developmental Disabilities 40th Anniversary Day" in San Diego! 🎉

We are incredibly honored to receive this proclamation recognizing 40 years of advancing inclusion, independence, opportunity, and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Thank you to Councilmember Raul A. Campillo for presenting this proclamation today, and to the City of San Diego for recognizing the impact of our mission and the collective efforts of our board, staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters.

As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to building a more inclusive future where people of all abilities have the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.

What a meaningful evening at Grateful Grand Rounds hosted by Rady Children's Health - San Diego.

Through stories, conversations, and interactive experiences, we saw firsthand how the Autism Friendly Health System Initiative is transforming healthcare by helping providers better understand and meet the needs of autistic children and their families.

The Foundation is pleased to announce that we are now accepting program grant applications from nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) across San Diego and Imperial Counties.
FDD typically funds programs in our four key areas of impact:
✔️ Employment
✔️ Family Support
✔️ Housing
✔️ Self-Advocacy
What’s New:
Our grant application has been updated — please download the new version from our website.
Read the application carefully before submitting.
Grants range from $500 to $20,000.
Note: Programs vendorized by the San Diego Regional Center are only eligible if the request supports an expansion or falls outside the current vendorized program design.
Deadline: Monday, October 5, 2026 (by close of business)
