Nicole Nocon - a 2026 Widen the Circle Berlin Fellow!
Nicole is one of seventeen participants in Widen the Circle's 2026 Berlin Fellowship, a yearlong program bringing together remembrance activists, educators, historians, and thought leaders from Germany and the United States.
The fellowship began with an immersive week in Berlin in June, where participants encountered creative approaches to remembrance, explored how communities confront historical injustice, and exchanged experiences from their own work.
“I feel deeply honored to learn alongside such inspiring people from the United States and Germany,” Nicole shared. “Hearing how others approach the histories of the Holocaust and slavery has given me new perspectives and prompted me to consider how we can connect different histories of injustice while creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue, learning, and remembrance.”
The fellowship reflects generationE's belief that remembrance helps us understand the present and shape the future. Over the coming year, Nicole and the other fellows will continue meeting virtually, sharing knowledge, and building relationships across the field.
We look forward to bringing these perspectives into generationE's work in Holocaust education, confronting antisemitism and other forms of bigotry, and strengthening democratic values.
