Federation of Indian Associations San Diego (FIASD) was originally started in 1989 as a consortium of Indians in San Diego (CISD). At the request of Inder Singh the then President of NFIA and Thomas Abraham of NFIA, CISD was converted in to FIA SD on May 19th, 1990. The inauguration was done by Dr. Abid Hussain, the then Ambassador of India. FIA SD is non profit organization and a chapter member of National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA) headquartered in Washington D.C.

🇮🇳A Proud Moment for the San Diego Indian Community – Republic Day of India Celebration at Balboa Park 🇮🇳

Dear San Diego Community,

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), along with the House of India and our local regional organizations, was honored to come together with you to celebrate India’s 77th Republic Day at the beautiful Balboa Park. Thanks to your overwhelming support, the event was a tremendous success!

We were deeply honored to welcome our Chief Guest, Consul General of India,LA, Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, and distinguished guests Mike Levin, US Congressman, CA 49th District and Dr Darshana Patel, Assembley member, District 76. Their thoughtful messages on the strong and enduring ties between India and the United States—and the shared vision to move past recent challenges and continue thriving together—were truly inspiring.

The National Anthems and the vibrant cultural performances added pride, color, and joy to the celebration, beautifully reflecting the spirit and diversity of our community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Vice President Debjani Chakraborty, whose leadership in directing and coordinating the cultural segments was instrumental to the event's success.

A huge thank you to Vice President Pratibha Goyal for being such a fantastic emcee and keeping us all engaged throughout the program.

We would like to thank Aseem Pandey for beautifully capturing the highlights of our event through his photography.

Special thanks to Director Dushyant Dave for his hands-on support with the DJ and audio setup, ensuring everything sounded perfect.

A heartfelt thanks to Director Sudesh Kumar for managing the welcome table and greeting our guests so warmly.

A special thank you to Secretary Samapti Roy for her exceptional work on the event’s design, promotions, and overall publicity.

The event was made even more special by the beautiful backdrop decoration provided by Signature Creation.

Last but certainly not least, we express our deepest gratitude to President Ramesh Chauhan for his visionary leadership and unwavering support in making this event a reality.

Thank you to every volunteer, performer, partner organization, and community member who joined us and made this celebration so meaningful. San Diego once again showed the power of unity, culture, and togetherness.

On behalf of the Federation of Indian Associations San Diego (FIA-SD) and House of India, we are delighted to invite you to join us in celebrating the 77th Republic Day of India. This special occasion commemorates the adoption of the Indian Coannstitution and reflects our shared values of democracy, unity, and cultural pride.

💃✨ At FIA-SD’s 79th Independence Day celebration, SANTA (San Diego Telugu Association) presented a powerful Kuchipudi Dance Drama by the talented students of Manjeera Academy of Dances.

This special performance paid tribute to the legendary freedom fighter Sri Potti Sreeramulu Garu — a fearless warrior whose ultimate sacrifice played a pivotal role in the formation of the Telugu state. 🇮🇳 His story, brought to life through dance, reflected both cultural heritage and patriotic pride.

Choreographed by Sireesha Avadhanam, the performance was delivered with remarkable grace and dedication. Despite technical glitches with the lights, the dancers performed beautifully, earning admiration from the audiences . 🌟

🎶✨ At FIA-SD’s 79th Independence Day celebration, SAIKAT (Bengali Association of San Diego) presented “Bharat Tirtha”, a timeless composition by Rabindranath Tagore from the Swadeshi movement.

This piece once instilled courage and independence in the hearts of people during India’s freedom struggle, urging them to find their own voice and walk with grit, even if alone. As Tagore wrote:
“Jodi Tor Dak Shune Keu Na Ase Tobe Ekla Cholo Re”, If no one responds to your call, then walk alone, my friend.

Beautifully choreographed by Smt. Debjani Chakraborty, the performance was a moving reminder that Tagore’s words of hope, strength, and resilience remain as relevant today as they were decades ago. 🇮🇳

🎶🇮🇳 As part of FIA-SD’s 79th Independence Day celebration, we were honored to present a stirring patriotic song medley blending traditional and Bollywood classics.

The performance by Nidhi Kavimandan Bhatmule and Tushar Sathe filled the hall with pride and passion, reminding us of India’s rich musical heritage and the enduring spirit of patriotism. ✨

🇮🇳🇺🇸 With pride and passion, FIA-SD’s 79th Independence Day celebration began with the national anthems.

The Indian National Anthem was sung by Syon Mishra, and the U.S. National Anthem was sung by Samaira Halder. Their powerful renditions honored both nations and set an inspiring tone for the program.

🌟 A heartfelt thank you to all the performers who graced the stage during FIA-SD’s 79th Independence Day celebration. 🌟

Through their music, songs, and dances, they beautifully showcased India’s rich traditions, deep patriotism, and love for the motherland. 🇮🇳✨

We are especially grateful to our partner regional organizations — San Diego Malayalee Association, Gujarati Association of San Diego, Saikat (Bengali Association of San Diego), San Diego Telugu Association, San Diego Tamil Sangam, and San Diego Maharashtra Mandal — whose graceful performances reflected the unity, diversity, and cultural pride that Independence Day stands for. Their contributions truly honored India’s rich heritage while celebrating the shared spirit of freedom. 🇮🇳

A special appreciation also goes to our talented dance groups — Rhythm School of Dance, RDM Studio, and Axomi Dance Group — whose vibrant performances brought our culture and traditions to life. 💃🎶
