1 Corinthians 12 says the parts of the body that seem weaker are actually indispensable.

Not just welcome. Not just accommodated. Indispensable.

This passage wasn't written as a metaphor. It was written to describe how the church actually functions, and what happens when certain members are overlooked or left out.

When people with disabilities are absent from our churches, the body is incomplete. Not symbolically. Functionally.

This is why disability ministry isn't a special program or a separate track. It's part of what it means to be the church.

We'd love to hear from you: how has someone with a disability shaped your faith or your community? Drop it in the comments. ๐Ÿ’™

32.3% of special needs families have left at least one church because their child was not welcomed.

Nearly one in three families. Gone. Not because they stopped wanting community. Because the church wasn't ready.

The West Coast Disability Ministry Conference is where we change that. September 18 and 19 in San Diego, we're bringing together church leaders, ministry volunteers, and advocates who are ready to go home and do the work.

A day and a half of practical training, real community, and a Buddy Bag packing event where every attendee helps send supplies to churches and ministries around the world.

Early bird pricing is open now through July 1. Don't wait on this one.

Sometimes belonging gets misunderstood as making sure every child behaves exactly the same way.

But belonging is not about sameness. It is about access.

Children may participate in different ways. One child may sit quietly. Another may stand or move. One child may respond verbally. Another may use visual supports or gestures.

And that is exactly as it should be.

The goal is not identical behavior. The goal is meaningful participation.

When we create environments that allow for different ways of learning, communicating, and regulating, children get to experience belonging without being forced to hide who they are.

That is the environment every child deserves. And it is what we help churches build, one team, one trained volunteer at a time.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Reach out to us and we'll send you a checklist for building more welcoming environments!

There are disability ministry leaders right now who are quietly carrying a lot.

Figuring out how to support a child whose needs have changed. Trying to keep volunteers from burning out. Wondering whether what they built is actually sustainable, or whether they are just holding it together week by week.

We hear from them all the time. And the first thing we want them to know is: you do not have to figure this out alone.

One of the most important things a leader can do is find others who are walking the same road. People who can say "we tried that" or "here's what helped us" or "that Sunday happened to us too and here is what we learned."

That kind of community is built into everything we do at Miracle 139. Training, support, and people who know this work firsthand.

We are here for the long haul. ๐Ÿ’™

Moses told God he wasn't the right person for the job.

He described himself as slow of speech and slow of tongue. He didn't feel equipped. He didn't feel qualified.

And God said: I will be with you.

Scripture is full of people whose disabilities, limitations, and perceived weaknesses didn't disqualify them. God seemed to choose them on purpose.

This matters deeply for how we build our churches. When we look at a person with a disability, we are not looking at someone who needs our help. We are looking at someone whose gifts, perspective, and presence the body of Christ genuinely needs.

The church is not complete without all of us.

Share this with someone who needs to hear it today. ๐Ÿ’™

This summer, our team is getting on a plane to India. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

For the past several months, we've been meeting with pastors and church leaders there on Zoom, going through disability ministry training translated into Hindi. Week by week, these leaders are building something new in their churches and communities.

And now we're going to meet them in person.

We're going as learners just as much as trainers. We want to understand the context, walk their communities, and be present in a way that says: you are not alone in this mission.

If you'd like to be part of making this trip possible, we'd love to have you.

A church that is ready looks different to a family with a child who has a disability.

Not because it has a special room or an elaborate program. Because when they walk through the door, someone on that team knows how to support their child. Someone has thought about what that Sunday morning might feel like for a child who experiences the world differently.

That difference is everything to a parent who has shown up hoping things would be different, and left one too many times feeling like their family still doesn't quite fit.

86.5% of church-attending special needs parents say their church needs more disability education and training (recent Baylor study).

Your team can be the exception.

Our online training modules are practical, self-paced, and built for busy volunteers who just want to know what to do when it matters most. No special education degree required.

Right now, on the other side of the world, pastors are showing up.

They're gathering on Zoom month after month, going through disability ministry training in Hindi, asking hard questions, wrestling with what it means to truly welcome every family through the doors of their churches.

They don't have all the answers. They're learning as they go. They're doing the work before they feel ready.

And they are not alone in it. We are walking alongside them.

If you are leading a disability ministry right now, wherever you are in the world, that is exactly what we want you to know too.

You are not doing this alone. And the fact that you
keep showing up matters more than you know. ๐Ÿ’™
