Multifamily news

Multifamily rents in the U.S. performed strongly in April, rising $4 to $1,377, according to a survey of 121 markets by Yardi Matrix. Rents have increased by $10 in the last two months, a year-over-year gain of 2.4% and is the market's best performance since last spring.

"April 11th, 2018, is an important day for the United States. It is the 50th anniversary of the landmark Fair Housing Act of 1968. The 1968 act prohibits discrimination concerning the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, religion, national origin, and since 1974, gender; since 1988, the act protects people with disabilities and families with children.

Here and now, we celebrate this historic act that has allowed generations of AAPI in this country to purchase a home. However, even today many in our community continue to experience the same kind of discrimination and hatred that was so rampant for so long in this country. So while we recognize and applaud the progress made over the last 50 years, we understand that there is still much work yet to be done.
This is why we do what we do. This is why it’s so important to have an organization like AREAA to stand and fight for the rights of AAPI in this country. Fair housing isn’t just an Asian American issue, or a Hispanic issue, or an African American issue; it is an issue that is fundamental to the core values of our country and the principles that we strive everyday to uphold – that everyone, no matter your race, creed, or religion, is equal."
