🗞️ Great news for San Diego’s arts and culture community!

Media Arts Center San Diego is grateful that the City Council approved an FY2027 budget that partially restores funding for arts and culture organizations. This victory was made possible by the tireless advocacy of artists, cultural leaders, organizations, and supporters across our region.

While we celebrate this important step forward, arts funding remains below FY2026 levels, and many organizations will continue to face challenges in the year ahead.

As we close out our fiscal year, we’re asking for your support. Help us reach our $15,000 fundraising goal so we can continue providing media arts education, scholarships, exhibitions, and community storytelling programs that serve thousands of San Diegans each year.

This past Saturday, we completed our final Spring 2026 cohort for our "Workforce Development Initiative". For the past six weeks,12 amazing students worked hard, each producing 3 different video projects about community, how to access public resources and the people who make San Diego. WDI, now celebrating 4+ years) is a unique program for emerging filmmakers ages 18-26 which includes a paid six week training and a paid internship with the San Diego Public Library. It's made possible by Library Foundation SD and The Prebys Foundation.
