Join Our Team!

*Director of Pro Bono
The Director of Pro Bono is a key member of SDVLP’s executive leadership team, responsible for leading and expanding pro bono attorney engagement across the organization’s programs to advance equal access to justice for low-income and disadvantaged San Diegans. This role oversees volunteer recruitment and support, case placement, training and recruitment resources, and strategic partnerships with law firms, corporate counsel, bar associations, and other professional organizations to strengthen program capacity and maximize impactful pro bono involvement. Reporting to the CEO, the Director also supervises the Pro Bono Administrative Coordinator.

*Supervising Attorney - Nonprofit Support Program
The Supervising Attorney for SDVLP’s Microbusiness and Nonprofit Support Program is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and growing a dynamic program that provides free legal services to nonprofit organizations and microbusinesses through pro bono attorney support. This position combines legal representation, program leadership, and strategic development to help community organizations remain compliant, build capacity, and advance their missions. Reporting to the CEO, the Supervising Attorney is part of the senior leadership team and supervises the program’s Staff Attorney.

San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP) is seeking a Supervising Attorney to lead our rapidly growing program providing free legal services to nonprofit organizations, helping them to build capacity and fulfill their missions.

On April 23, 2026, our Senior Staff Attorney Laura Handler proudly represented SDVLP at California State University San Marcos' 20th Annual Take Back the Night event.

Held each year, Take Back the Night brings together students, survivors, advocates, and community members to raise awareness, provide education, and stand united in the fight against sexual violence. As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, this event continues a movement that began in the 1970s and remains vital today.

We are grateful to be part of this important work and to stand alongside our community in support, advocacy, and awareness.

Supporting our community, one slice at a time.

This week, SDVLP staff came together to participate in Dining Out For Life San Diego, an annual event hosted by The San Diego LGBT Community Center. By enjoying pizza from Lefty's Chicago Pizzeria, a participating restaurant, we helped contribute to vital health and wellness programs, including HIV prevention and education.

A heartfelt thank you to Jones Day attorneys for partnering with San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP) and the San Diego Family Justice Center – Your Safe Place (YSP) for the 4th year in a row to provide essential pro bono restraining order services to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. On March 11, Jones Day attorneys including Pat Swan worked alongside SDVLP Staff Attorney Joel Corrales and Legal Administrative Assistant Ileana Gutierrez to support a successful clinic at YSP.

This impactful clinic was held in honor of International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. We’re proud to support and uplift our community through meaningful service and collaboration.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an impactful event and to lead a 75-minute session alongside nonprofit expert Kristen Anderson, a partner at The Law Firm for Non-Profits®, P.C. Our presentation, “Legal Updates & Compliance Essentials for Nonprofits: What Leadership and Boards Need to Know,” focused on equipping nonprofit leaders with practical insights to navigate today’s evolving legal and compliance landscape.
