The Ideology of Colonization & the Hope of Freedom in the Ogaden:
"Colonization is based on the doctrine of cultural hierarchy and supremacy. The theory of colonialism is the domination by a metropolitan center which rules a distant territory through the implanting of settlements. There is a destruction of the cultural values and ways of life."
colonization of the - is exactly this. The marginalization of the and the subjugation of its people continues to remain the same.
There is no regime change in , continues to rule the country.
Decolonization has not taken place, the same people that have been repressed continue to live in repression.
Self-Determination is the only key to ending decades of human rights violations and dire humanitarian, economic, and political crises in the Ogaden and elsewhere in Ethiopia.
Ethiopia's cycle of authoritarianism stems from its colonial roots impeded in its system of governance and basic identity as a nation-state.
The colonial administration in established, supported, financed, selected, and administered by EPRDF is no different from the previous ones that have murdered thousands of Somalis in the region; Nor do they hold the best interest of the people at heart.
This is becoming more and more prevalent everyday as we are witnessing millions of dollars being looted by the leaders of the colonial administration in Jigjiga as millions of people are struggling with starvation, and some even dying from lack of water and other basic resources.
These difficulties that ensued from decades of human rights violations and Ethiopian colonization of the Ogaden region remains the same. Many believed the new colonial administrative regime established in Jigjiga would bring change, nevertheless fundamental change has not taken place many of the leadership remains intact from the previous Abdi Iley regime, and corruption remains widespread as a humanitarian crisis continues to cripple the region.
We urge the intellectuals, business and political leaders of the Ogaden region to stand up to the status-quo and challenge this system of Ethiopian colonization placed upon the region for decades. The ideology of colonialism is at play in the Ogaden and anti-colonial elements in the Ogaden like the have an obligation to speak up against the ruling class crippling the Somali people and robbing them of the political and economic hopes, aspirations and desires of living in total freedom and exercising their fundamental right of self-determination.
