Mission Monday 💚

This Mission Monday, we're spotlighting a moment that speaks directly to our mission: helping every child in our community feel ready, confident, and supported.

This season's Parks After Dark at Linda Vista brought families together for events full of food 🍽️, ice cream 🍦, music 🎶, face painting 🎨, games, jumpers, and arts & crafts 🎨✂️ — free evenings of fun where neighbors could connect and kids could just be kids.

Amid all that joy, we also hosted a backpack and school supply giveaway 🎒📚, providing 100 backpacks to local students to help them start the school year strong.

For many families, back-to-school season adds up fast. A backpack full of supplies is more than just school gear, it's one less thing for parents to worry about, and a boost of confidence for kids walking into their first day knowing they're prepared.

This is what our mission is all about: creating safe, welcoming spaces where San Diego families can access the resources they need to thrive, together. 💚

This Thankful Thursday, we're looking back on an incredible summer of Parks After Dark at Silverwing Recreation Center! 🌙

From soccer ⚽ and basketball 🏀 to rock climbing 🧗, bounce houses, face painting 🎨, caricatures, and an unforgettable pie eating contest 🥧 — Silverwing was full of laughter, energy, and community every single night.

We were honored to welcome Mayor Todd Gloria and San Diego Parks Foundation's Interim Executive Director David Monroe, who came out to experience the magic of Parks After Dark firsthand.

And we're especially thankful for families like the Orsinas — Krisha, her husband, and their two kids — who shared how these free summer events have become a highlight for their family and neighbors.

Beyond the fun, Parks After Dark meant free meals 🍽️, desserts 🧁, and food distributions 🥫 that helped support families across our community.
