So many sacred moments this week in San Diego…

We just wrapped up the 25th Annual International Family Justice Center Conference in San Diego. Such sweet and special moments over the whole week. One of those moments was Karianne Gwinn, the foundinf Director of Camp HOPE America singing “I am Light” with our dear friend, William Kellibrew, with 20 minutes of preparation in front of the entire conference. William was one of our Camp HOPE America Hope Heroes last year in a curriculum that Karianne wrote. They had met on Zoom but never in person and they had never sung together. Everyone in the room will cherish this forever. So many of us need this reminder.

In the summer of 2003, Casey Gwinn founded Camp HOPE in the mountains east of San Diego. He recruited supporters and friends and created six weeks of camping for children impacted by domestic violence. The children were getting help at the San Diego Family Justice Center but Casey knew they needed hope. They needed things to look forward to in life. They needed their childhood back. Now, this small camping and mentoring program is moving across the country and around the world. This is a great new story from the start up of Camp HOPE America Florida.

Children are often the hidden victims of domestic violence. A program called Camp Hope in the Tampa Bay Area aims to help children and kids who are victims or survivors of domestic violence heal.
