V-Day SDSU is the San Diego State University chapter of V-Day, a non-profit committed to ending violence against women and girls. Each year, V-Day SDSU produces a benefit performance of Eve Ensler's award-winning play, The Vagina Monologues and donates 100 percent of the proceeds: 90 percent to a local beneficiary and 10 percent to the national V-Day organization. In 2013, V-Day SDSU donated over
$16,000. Our local beneficiary for 2014 is the San Diego Youth Services STARS program, which provides services to teen girls in San Diego who have been involved in commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. STARS provides support to empower youth to escape sexual exploitation by developing their inner strengths, building a sense of community, and supporting their reintegration into mainstream society. We do more than just talk about vaginas. We are dedicated activists fighting for women and girls--until the violence stops.
