This research makes the case for prosecuting strangulation/ domestic violence cases with or without the victim's participation, the importance of training, understanding symptoms are equally important as visible injuries and the need for good legal definitions of strangulation and suffocation that includes the obstruction of blood flow and/or air flow and no visible injury is required. My personal favorite is still our Federal Strangulation/Suffocation statute even though it doesn't include positional asphyxia (yet). Thank you to UK researchers for prioritizing this topic and sharing your findings. It is applicable to all of us. Implementation of strangulation laws saves lives.

Hidden Homicides are happening around the world. Glad to see the Police agreed to reinvestigate the death of 27 year old Katie Beattie. It was also nice to see the UK has a Victim's Right Review Scheme which allows family members to appeal the decision of cause and manner of death. We need every state in the US to have the same rights for family members.
