Transit San Diego: Using Transit to Improve YOUR Life and YOUR Community

Implementing a functional, workable, and urban-core based transit system in San Diego is essential for increasing quality of life in the region. Many quality of life issues from jobs, housing, and the economy to water and air quality are intrinsically linked to transit. Overwhelming evidence demonstrates that moving from spr

awl development and highway-based infrastructure to urban infill development and transit-based infrastructure would be an efficient and effective way to address regional crises and improve regional quality of life.

Don't get distracted by this manufactured shouting match over road usage fees, which require additional legislation and wouldn't be implemented until the 2030s.

San Diego faces a triple emergency: a climate crisis, a housing crisis, and an ecological crisis all at once. We need to change the way we’ve done things in this county, and we need to do it now.

The Fake Plan for Alpine has major problems: auto-based sprawl at the expense of the Cleveland National Forest.

The County’s Alpine Plan is a contradiction in terms just like all the other county-wide sprawl projects. But this one is really crazy. The so-called project goal of ‘community vitality’ actually promotes auto based sprawl at the expense of vital forest lands which the people voted overwhelmingly to protect in the 1993 Forest Initiative.

Our comment letter to the County of San Diego outlines the flaws in the fake plans for Alpine:

Thank you Jack Shu for talking to K**I News to advocate for 5 Big Moves at SANDAG without watering it down by widening freeways.

Students for transit:

If you have ever used the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, you know how awful it is. Buses and trolleys are scheduled to run every 15 minutes and have a tendency to run late. Many of the stops and stations are located far away from one another in isolated, inconvenient areas. There isn’t eve...

"He said all the region’s previous plans – including the one in place today – didn’t really do anything to reduce emissions, he said. They used modeling to demonstrate compliance, but really perpetuated the car-based status quo."

By design or accident, Hasan Ikhrata is remaking the role of SANDAG director, from behind-the-scenes consensus-builder to bold iconoclast. But the elected leaders who support his plan have not had his back as he faces pushback from North County and East County politicians.
