It is a great honor and pleasure to announce at approximately 7:02 PM PDT on Monday, July 6, 2026, DANE WALKOWIAK-VARGAS of Troop 301 earned the highest rank in Scouting America, that of EAGLE SCOUT!
The Eagle Board of Review was impressed with Dane’s kind, friendly nature, his character and citizenship, and commitment to excellence in academics and athletics. The Board appreciated Dane’s volunteerism, and his dedication to family, friends, and fellow students.
The Board recognized Dane’s 4.41 GPA, 3 AP, 2 Honors, and 2 duel enrollment classes. The Board was impressed with Dane’s involvement with athletics, whether as an accomplished Varsity Wrestler, or as a 3-year Varsity Defensive Starter and Valued Utility Player for the Scripps Ranch High School Varsity Football Team. The Board appreciated Dane’s many wrestling accomplishments: All-City Conference winner earning regional top rank, City Conference Champion in 2023, 2x Master Qualifier, 2x CIF Select, and 5x Tournament Winner.
The Board appreciated Dane’s volunteerism as a Sharp Memorial Hospital intern along with his dedication to the Scripps Ranch Community and St. Gregory’s Catholic church.
The Board enjoyed learning about the Weightlifting Club and Flag-Football League Dane founded. The Board respected Dane’s efforts to welcome new student members as well as his support so that students could be inspired to thrive and be successful.
The Board appreciated Dane’s dedication to Troop 301 as Troop Librarian, and 2x Patrol Leader; his commitment to mentor younger Scouts; his multiple long-term Scouting adventures that include Mataguay Scout Reservation, Camp Bighorn, Emerald Bay, and 2 Camp Fiesta Island summer camps; his 42 Camping Nights, 75 hiking miles (including 3 Scripps Ranch to the Sea 20-mile hikes), 47.5 hours of service, Cub Scouting’s Arrow of Light, the National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping, and 30 merit badges!
