Resistance Volunteers of San Diego

Resistance Volunteers of San Diego This is an organization of volunteers that are ready to resist & stand up against any unjust policies /executive orders issued by the trump administration. Rep.

Background: I have a degree in International Relations from USD, which I earned while Sept. 11th happened and I think it offers a unique perspective as to what is occurring now. I also have a law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, *however I am not a licensed attorney. I can give my opinion as someone with a law degree though I cannot represent someone personally in a legal matter. I do h

ave close friends who are attorneys in San Diego, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area. I was born and raised in El Centro, Ca. and moved to San Diego in 1999. I am Mexican-American and I am fluent in Spanish and I would be happy to share more about our culture and history with anyone who may be interested. We all need to embrace our similarities and downplay our differences. Especially in times like these. Purpose: Resistance Volunteers has been founded in order to support and promote the resistance of any & all Trump policies that are unconstitutional or in violation of human rights. We as a community must come together and organize because he has made it clear that he intends to ignore the constitution and implement unjust policies. In addition, Trump's has in fact made us more at risk of an attack by terrorist organizations since this kind of religious discrimination encourages radicalization. ReVoCal encourages peaceful and non-violent demonstrations and we encourage civil disobedience of these unjust policies as they are implemented. Goals: This organization is designed to promote, protect, and preserve American democracy and the American Dream for future generations. With my background in international relations it is truly alarming when you draw the similarities between what is happening now under the Trump administration and what happened in countries such as: Italy, Germany, Romania, and Hungary. I suggest that everyone who does not believe this claim should research the issue. We all want a better, brighter future for our loved ones and for our future generations and we intend to bring everyone together. Community building will be important even when Trump is no longer president. Community building can start on a small scale and eventually grow into something entirely statewide and possibly nationwide. Support: We as a community must stand in solidarity with all sectors of our community. It is obvious from his actions thus far that Trump intends to first single out the most vulnerable members of our community. His is something that we all strongly disagree with and we all stand in support of our Muslim brothers and sisters. Mexican-American community: he has singled us out by threatening a 20% tariff on imports from Mexico and more recently he has threatened to send US military to straighten things out if things do not improve in Mexico. And of course, the wall- the campaign chant: "build that wall" was like a year long insult to our community. It would be an enormous waste of money and would only serve as an insult to our neighbors of the south. We support our brothers and sisters of the Black Community as well. Trump has insulted the Black Community by questioning Rep. John Lewis' track record as a Civil Rights leader. Lewis marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and he questioned his reputation at no other time then on MLK Day weekend. Trump has also indicated that he would "send the feds" to Chicago if they do not "straighten out." We will demonstrate in solidarity at any marches dedicated to bring awareness to the victims of police brutality and excessive force because "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) We will also march in support of Women's Rights because Trump has made it very clear that he does not respect the rights of a woman simply to be free from unwanted contact. He has issued a dress code that women must "dress like women." He has quickly defunded Planned Parenthood and other policies. Another marginalized group that we would like to support as much as possible are the Native Americans and the movement / the water protectors at Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Trump has already indicated that he intends to follow through with that pipeline and he has suggested that he would privatize reservations. Our Native American brothers and sisters should know that we will support them in any way we can. They are a major inspiration for all of us trying to make a difference and they truly are the very first environmentalists. Furthermore, we stand in solidarity with other marginalized communities that have been or may be targets of Trump's unconstitutional policies in particular the LGBT Community, the Refugee Community, as well as the communities from Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, and other Asian communities. We will march in support and we will organize in any way we can whether it is to connect someone with the right office, or refer someone to the right attorneys, or set up events where we can meet in person and interact with one another and share ideas. Even if we can only interpret a letter from the government for a refugee family this organization will be serving its purpose. We would also like to encourage anyone who would like to run for elected office to do so in order to start making an immediate difference in our communities. I would personally like to run this organization the way we should be running our country, as a Democracy. Therefore, no one opinion is better than the other and any major decisions will be made according to what the MAJORITY suggests. Any suggestions, comments or criticisms are actually Welcome. Yes We Can!
