For those friends in the San Diego area...

Five years ago, Richard embarked on an amazing journey in memory of his son Emilio and in honor of all children with cancer. This epic run was captured by Executive Producers, Sholom & Lynn Ellenberg, making it into a short documentary called Running With Emilio. This beautiful and inspirational film has participated in and won several film festival awards around the world, including the Brooklyn International Short Awards, the Big Apple Film Festival in New York, Santa Monica Film Awards, Seattle Filmmaker Awards, Austin International Art Festival. Just last month it took first place in the Docuworld Film Festival in London.
Join us in a special, exclusive screening event at The LOT in Liberty Station on Friday, August 11th. Your support will ensure that we can continue to provide the families we serve with the life-changing support they need.

August 16th-Day-55. Today’s 🧡Heart and Sole’s🧡 Final Long Leg👟 will pick up from Del Mar, CA and end at Rady Children's Hospital, the largest Children’s hospital🏥 in California. Del Mar was 338-acre parcel purchased by Enoch Talbert and 🇺🇸Colonel Taylor in 1885 to be developed into a fancy coastal resort. During World War II, the ⚓️Navy operated a detachment which used military blimps for reconnaissance. The Del Mar Racetrack has been operational since 1937 when a group of Hollywood singer and actors to include⭐️Bing Crosby, Pat O'Brien, Gary Cooper, Joe E. Brown, Charles S. Howard and Oliver Hardy decided to make it one of the largest West Coast 🏟horse racing venues.

August 15th, 2018-Day 54: Leg 1 is from 🇺🇸Camp Pendleton, CA to 🌴Carlsbad, CA. Home to the 1 Marine Expeditionary Force🇺🇸 or known as Warfighting MEF, Camp Pendleton is about 125,000 acres. Ranch land previously owned by former 🇲🇽Mexican officers after 1780's and several families through from 1840's until 1942, Camp Pendleton was dedicated as a US Marine Corps base by 🇺🇸President Roosevelt in 1942. Since 1970's, the American Bison have made the base their home amongst the coastal dunes and woodlands.🏞

Second Leg is from Carlsbad, CA to Del Mar, CA. Carlsbad was inhabited by the Luisenos people prior to Spanish settlement. In the 1880's the city received its name due to a ⛴sailor selling local well water at the 🚈train station. The fresh water was found to be similar to a famous Czech town named Karlsbad which is known for its premium spa💦 water. Carlsbad has the largest desalination💧 plant in the US.
