is an organization that focuses on the parent and advises parents or soon to be parents how to raise their kids using lots of love, support, and tons of fun. started from my own experience of becoming a mom, something I felt I was being thrown into without any formal training or even a mere certificate. It is the most rewarding thing I've ever done, but it is also the hardest. It's amazing to me t
hat we do not have any formal training for this, and that there aren't parent education centers on the corner of every street (okay, I might be exaggerating a little). Before becoming a parent, I was always told that having kids will change everything, that life will never be the same, and that being a parent is very difficult. Honestly, I didn't think much about these statements, I've babysat kids since I was a kid myself, and I've always loved kids and was looking forward to having my own! Of course I realized that becoming a mom would be difficult, but I did not fully grasp what that meant until my first child was born. After the excitement of the first 2 weeks, I started feeling exhausted, really exhausted like never before. And unlike before where I could just take a day off or a weekend off, this time I obviously could not. Everything had changed, my work schedule became reduced, my body looked and felt different, and my social outings became nonexistent. On the other hand I was in love with my baby girl and fascinated with her growth and development, my love for her was so strong and unlike any type of love I've ever felt before and it became even stronger each day as her personality was developing. During this time I felt like there was not a lot of psychological support in "bite-size" format (I say bite-size, since extra time is not something most parents have, and we do not have time to read a big book!). The information that is out there was information for the basic physical needs of a baby (very important as well, don't get me wrong). It was easy to gain knowledge on how to nurse your baby, change her diaper, when to introduce a sippy cup, how to hold her, etc. However, I did not find any readily available information on how to deal with your child and your own frustrations when she is crying uncontrollably, or when she is hitting you because she is not getting what she wants, or when you are simply too tired to get through the daily routine, and every month/year new challenging situations arise (and some old ones leave). Sure, there are big books out there on how to raise kids, but most parents don't have time to read these books, they need something quick and simple to give them advise on how to handle certain situations, and they need support too to let them know that they are not the only ones who are going or have gone through these experiences, and that's where Parents Set Go comes in. Through the Parents Set Go! blog (which will be up in May 2013) and Facebook, parents will be able to gain psychological support for raising their kids as well as ideas and suggestions for fun activities. I will be sharing my own experiences as a mom of two kids, as well as interviewing different experts in the field such as doctors, teachers, psychologists, and different types of amazing parents and educators! Lets be good to ourselves and our outstanding children and raise an amazing population of caring, loving, and happy human beings!
