Grief doesn’t become less real because the one we lost wasn’t human.

For many people, losing a companion animal means losing a family member, a daily routine, a source of comfort, and an important part of their lives. Yet this grief is still often minimized or dismissed, making it a form of what researchers call “disenfranchised grief.”

On Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we’re remembering the animals we’ve loved and lost, while recognizing that mourning them deserves the same compassion and space we give to other profound losses.

Today we celebrate Sharie, who is stepping down from our board after decades of service.

Sharie has been a driving force in effective animal advocacy for as long as Faunalytics has existed. From our earliest days through our growth into a leading voice in the movement, her strategic insight, marketing expertise, and steadfast commitment have helped us make smarter decisions and reach stronger outcomes.

We are deeply grateful for her extraordinary service — to our board, our organization, and the animal advocacy movement. Thank you, Sharie!
