Members of the MLEAD program joined SEIU political volunteers to urge South County residents to vote for Jose Rodriguez for Mayor of National City, Cindy Lopez for District 1 and Ditas Yamane for District 3. SEIU also launched the Gross Receipts Business License Tax Initiative Measure petition in National City. Member Political Organizer Committee members urged residents to vote for Henry Foster III for City Council and Antonio Martinez for San Diego City Council as well.

SEIU Local 221 member Juanita Castaneda brought the Protect City Services petition, signed by a supermajority of our National City members, directly to the City Council! Our members are calling for a voice in budget decisions, fewer cuts and layoffs, and new revenue to protect city services.

Our members, alongside SEIU Local 221 President Crystal Irving, addressed City Council, calling for a voice in budget decisions, fewer cuts and layoffs, and new revenue to protect city services. And the work continues! Members are sharing information about a citizen-led Business Tax Reform initiative proposed for next year's ballot.
