Outdoor Outreach is a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to connect youth to the transformative power of the outdoors. Since our founding in 1999, Outdoor Outreach has served more than 20,000 young people through four core youth development programs: our Partner, Adventure Club, Military and Leadership programs.

Mark your calendar: Thrive Outside Day is Saturday, Oct. 10, and the events keep going throughout the fall season. 🌵🍁🍂

Across 15 communities, our partners are hosting free outdoor events for kids and families. Surfing in San Diego, whitewater rafting in Oklahoma City, kayaking the Chattahoochee in Atlanta, canoeing in St. Louis, and dozens more events between the full activation window of Sept. 26 and Oct. 31.

Every one of them is free, local, and meant for families who might not otherwise get the chance to participate in outdoor activities. Bring your kids, a neighbor, or a friend who has been curious about trying something new.

Last week, we hosted our first Meet the Mission event, where many who make up the Outdoor Outreach community came together to connect with some of the incredible people who make our work possible. We were so grateful to have program alumni, partners, donors, volunteers, staff, and friends all in the same place.

The highlight of the night was hearing from Alexis, Thao, and Tiffany, who shared their experiences with the organization and what Outdoor Outreach means to them today.

Thank you to Pure Project Brewing for being amazing hosts, and to everyone who joined us, shared a conversation, listened to a story, or simply showed up to be part of the community. We’re excited to continue building these connections and sharing more stories from the young people, alumni, and staff who bring the Outdoor Outreach mission to life.

Another community access project through the to improve youth access to natural and cultural resources! 🤙

Outdoor Outreach's Youth Community Access grant provides young people in San Diego with critically important access to natural and cultural resources by supporting our Leadership Program.

This month, we celebrated the graduation of 12 young outdoor leaders, who completed 300+ hours of of activities, including team building, leadership development courses, group facilitation, environmental stewardship, and will learn skills in outdoor activities like kayaking, surfing, hiking, and more.
