If you run medical equipment at home, you may be paying more for electricity than you need to.

SDG&E’s Medical Baseline Allowance gives you additional energy at the lowest available rate when you use equipment like an oxygen concentrator, a ventilator, a power wheelchair charger, or a dialysis machine. It also covers people whose medical condition means they cannot safely go without heating or cooling. Details at sdge.com/medical.

There is more available than that one program. CARE takes 30 percent or more off your monthly bill and needs no documentation to apply. FERA takes 18 percent off for households just over the CARE income limits, and households of one or two now qualify. ESA covers no cost home improvements like attic insulation and weatherstripping. If you are behind, payment arrangements can keep your service on while you catch up.

Start at sdge.com/assistance. If the forms are the part that stops you, call us at (619) 293-3500 in San Diego or (760) 768-2044 in Imperial Valley and we will sit down with you and work through them.

SDG&E’s last wildfire safety fair of the year is Saturday, August 29, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center.

Admission is free. You’ll get help building an emergency kit and an evacuation plan, plus information on generator safety, defensible space, and SDG&E’s customer assistance programs. There are kids’ activities, live music, a prize wheel, and a goat petting area with baby goats. Preparedness tote bags go out first come, first served.

Emergency planning looks different when you use a wheelchair, rely on powered medical equipment, or need someone with you to evacuate. Come ask those questions in person.

It’s an outdoor event on farm grounds. If you want to know about accessible parking and terrain before you make the drive, call us at (619) 293-3500 and we’ll find out for you.
