International Health Collective A 501(c)(3) based out of UCSD, IHC strives to alleviate disparities in the San Diego–Tijuana region

The International Health Collective was founded by two undergraduates at the University of California, San Diego in 2013. It has since grown from a small student organization to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. IHC is still entirely run and operated by students and alumni, with members from various universities in addition to UCSD including SDSU, CSU San Marcos, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the local community colleges. The pioneering members of the International Health Collective sought to create an organization which promotes "humanism in medicine." To the members of IHC, this refers to a holistic approach to health and medicine, enlisting an interdisciplinary team to tackle big issues and create lasting, sustainable change. IHC strives to embody these values in its work and apply solutions that are community-based and sustainable.

Looking to get involved with community health without the full IHC commitment? We’re recruiting Global Sentry Drivers and Spanish Interpreters to support our Tijuana & Mexicali health clinics 🌟

Volunteers will gain hands-on experience, train in community health initiatives, and have the opportunity to shadow or interpret in the clinic setting… all without membership dues or required GBM attendance!

International Health Collective is recruiting for Fall Quarter 2026! Applications will open soon on Thursday, September 24th.

IHC is a student led non-profit organization committed to improving healthcare access in marginalized areas through sustainable and empowering projects. Our work benefits both local and international communities, and focuses on providing essential medical care, health education, and fostering long-term relationships with the communities we serve.

Interested in applying? Check out our website and join our prospective member email list (via our Linktree) for more information on our projects, clinics, and the Fall ‘26 application!

Be sure to attend our info session on October 6th from 5-7pm or our Recruitment Social on October 2nd from 5-7pm if you would like to meet other IHC members and get general questions answered.

Nicole and Sabeen recently represented the International Health Collective at the first annual ACP Binational Medical Congress, where they presented their work, “Improving Low-Resource Diagnostic Capabilities: Implementing a Point-of-Care Laboratory Program in a Student-Run Free Clinic in Mexico.”

Competing alongside nine other teams, their presentation earned the Special Commendation Award! This recognition reflects their dedication to expanding accessible diagnostic services and strengthening patient care in low-resource communities.

Congratulations, Nicole and Sabeen, we are so proud of you and the impact of the IHC Lab Program!

Our 2026 San Juanico Clinic Trip Recap! Clinic is an amazing opportunity to learn, grow, and give back to our San Juanico Community.
