The Pacific Islander Society of County Employees or PISCE (pronounced pi-see) is an Employee Resourc

The main focus of PISCE is to be a resource to the County of San Diego through the following:

1. Cultural Competency/Awareness – Cultivate multi-cultural competency and awareness of the many island nation cultures that make up Polynesia, Micronesia & Melanesia.

2. Recruitment/Retention/Outreach – Build a strong network of members and assist in retaining the current diverse workforce. Participate in the recruitment and outreach to the Polynesian, Melanesian & Micronesian community.

3. Support County Initiative/Partnerships – Be a valued partner to the County in achieving their strategic goals.

4. Professional Development – Prepare members for advancement and leadership positions within the County.

FEMA's Youth Preparedness Council Applications are now live!

The Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) was created in 2012 to bring together youth leaders interested in supporting disaster preparedness and making a difference in their communities by completing disaster preparedness projects nationally and locally.

The council supports FEMA’s commitment to involve America’s youth in preparedness-related activities. It also provides young people an opportunity to present their perspectives, feedback, and opinions to FEMA staff. Members regularly meet with staff and attend the annual Youth Preparedness Council virtual summit.

Applicants must be teens in grades 8 through 11. Application deadline is March 4, 2024. Sign up for an informational webinar set for February 27, 2024, 2:00 PM SST.
