Open Show San Diego Open Show San Diego is a volunteer-powered community that gets great photo & film work seen and inspires conversation through quarterly live events.

Open Show San Diego provides a forum for our local community of visual storytellers to share their projects. Several times a year San Diego-based photographers, filmmakers, and multimedia producers gather for an evening of live presentations and lively conversations.

OPEN SHOW FORMAT
Each Open Show event gives five curated presenters 10-15 minutes each to introduce one project/body of work. We welcome diverse topics ranging from documentary to fine art. STILL IMAGE SUBMISSIONS
1) 15-25 images on a single narrative topic or visual theme.
2) File format: highest quality JPEG images, 1500 pixels on the longest side (square images should be 1500x1500 pixels).
3) NO text on images, watermarks, masking, or borders.
4) Upload files via our online submission system: http://www.openshow.org/en/sandiego

FILM/MULTIMEDIA SUBMISSIONS
1) Running time must be between 4-7 minutes.
2) Audio should be complementary (ambient recording, interview, etc.). Anything NOT recorded by the presenter must be properly licensed.
3) Send a link to your project via our online submission system: http://www.openshow.org/en/sandiego
4) If your project is selected we will need a Quicktime (.MOV) file at 1024x768 pixels exported using the H.264 Codec and a maximum of 250 MB. We cannot accept Soundslides files, Adobe Flash files, or other formats. EVERYTHING ELSE
* You MUST be present at Open Show for your work to be shown, so please keep your schedule free for the show date.

* You will need to speak about yourself and your work for 10–15 minutes. Think about what you would say:
1) Brief Bio/Background: Give a 30-60 second self-introduction.
2) Project Genesis: What sparked this project/body of work?
3) Back Stories: Give context and tell stories the audience can't experience online (challenges/how you solved them, impact of the work, humorous/moving/interesting stories while creating it, etc.).
4) Your Goals/Next steps: What will you do with this work?

* We will be rotating the images on the screen, please try to avoid narrating every slide.

* For video/multimedia we will play through once, then mute and run in the background while you speak about the work.

* Ask for questions/comments: Open Show is an INTERACTIVE salon, NOT a lecture, please make sure to pause and ask the audience if they have any question for you!

* Our event team creates all title slides and NO explanatory text slides are allowed.

* Open Show San Diego will notify artists at least one week prior to each show to announce who will be presenting.
