REMINDER:

San Diego Mended Hearts is canceling its October 10th monthly meeting because of a lack of a speaker.
Please focus your attention on our November 14, 2026, meeting, which will welcome Natalie Crawford, CEO of Mended Hearts International. We shall be presenting her with a plaque honoring Al Voss, her predecessor, who was a long-term, voluntary, full-time CEO who had to resign this year because of health reasons. She will present the plaque to him on our behalf. Originally, both Al and Natalie were to visit us together; but his health had other ideas. Ms. Crawford is also a full time volunteer.

We shall also serve a catered lunch from the local On The Border Mexican restaurant. I understand that she loves Mexican food!

Come One, Come All to our November 14th meeting. It should be memorable! Recall that our mantra is "participation." Per usual, we'll also broadcast the meeting on Zoom. But if you like Mexican food, you'll have to attend. And we are also giving away door prizes.

Let's get out of our houses, off our computers, and attend the meeting! I shall send out future email blasts describing the location of the San Diego Cardiac Center, our meeting venue, and the Zoom links as the date draws near. SAVE THE DATE NOW!

Hello All! At this month's meeting, we shall have an in-person speaker: Jennifer Crosdale, a cardiac dietician at UCSD Health. She will address appropriate diets for cardiac patients specifically and people generally interested in heart health. Per usual, the meeting will be broadcast on Zoom. Let's have a wonderful turnout! Remember that our mantra is PARTICIPATION!

We shall also welcome our new audio-visual technician, Tannisha Harrell, a volunteer. Make her feel welcome!

Our August 8, 2026, meeting meeting will feature Dr. Wesiq Sheik, MD, a newly graduated Electro-Physiologist, who will begin his practice next month at Sharp Grossmont and Sharp Chula Vista hospitals. Hello all! We have a heck of a great meeting this month with an in-person speaker. What you miss, you will NEVER LEARN.

The meeting will convene at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the San Diego Cardiac Center, 3131 Berger Ave., 2d Floor, San Diego, CA 92123.

Our in-person speaker will be Melissa McLenon, DNP, ACNP-BC, a member of the heart failure team at UCSD medical. She has been a Nurse Practitioner for over 20 years. She received her BSB from the University of Kentucky, her MS from the University of Maryland, and her doctorate in nursing from the University of Texas. She also has been recognized by the American Heart Association as a Woman of Impact. Her talk will discuss gender differences in heart attack and heart failure symptoms. Hello all! We have a heck of a great meeting this month with an in-person speaker. Attendance is a MUST. What you miss, you will NEVER LEARN.

Our speaker will be Alyssa Seymore, BSN,RN,CCRN, who presently is the Navigator of the Outpatient Congenital Heart Disease group at UCSD medical.center. She received her BSN at the University of Delaware. She then trained as a pediatric critical care nurse at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. Luckily for us, she brought her skills to Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego 14 years ago! She then brought her skills to UCSG last January. we are HONORED to have her as a speaker.
