We are still feeling the energy from the 22nd Annual Nonprofit Leadership and Governance Symposium! These two days were more than just an event; they were the work itself, a vital space to step back, refocus, and leave with a clearer sense of purpose.

A heartfelt thank you to the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Institute (NPI) for hosting such a grounding experience. 211 San Diego was honored to support this year’s Summit as a sponsor, deepening our ongoing partnership with NPI as we navigate the "steady waves" of change in funding and policy together.

We were proud to see our team contribute to the critical conversations shaping our sector:
- Bill York, our President & CEO, joined the Connecting Policy & Practice discussion to explore how we can best serve our community in this shifting environment.
- Nicole Blumenfeld shared her leadership and insights during Programs First: Designing Data to Support Impact, highlighting the importance of data-driven storytelling.

To all the nonprofit partners who attended: thank you for your steadfast commitment. In these challenging times, your choice to show up for one another and take responsibility for our community’s well-being is what makes San Diego stronger.

As both a sponsor and a partner, we are honored to continue this work in solidarity with you.

Today, we had the privilege of hosting San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan, a nationally recognized leader devoted to protecting children, families, and the most vulnerable in our community.

Her lifelong commitment to justice and public safety deeply aligns with our mission to uplift, empower, and safeguard the communities we serve.

DA Stephan’s leadership, and her team, are marked by integrity, innovation, and an unwavering dedication to victims, reflects the same values that guide our vision for a safer, more equitable San Diego. From pioneering special victims units to expanding diversion programs and championing awareness campaigns, her work continues to set the standard for community centered public service.

We are grateful for her support, partnership, and time spent with our team today. Together, we continue moving toward a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive in safety and dignity.

Thank you, District Attorney Stephan, for all you do. Your leadership inspires our work every day.

Starting April 1, 2026, a new federal law will make some noncitizens ineligible for CalFresh. Current CalFresh recipients, including asylees and refugees, will have their eligibility reviewed at their next renewal.

If you may be impacted:
• You might still qualify. Submit your renewal paperwork on time.
• Keep your contact information updated in BenefitsCal, by calling 1-866-262-9881, or by visiting a Family Resource Center.
• Respond quickly to any County requests and turn in all required forms.
• The County Office of Immigrant & Refugee Affairs can connect you to additional support.

Food resources are available regardless of immigration status:
• Visit 211sandiego.org for countywide food assistance.
• Check the San Diego Food Bank’s online map for emergency food sites.
• Find pop‑up distributions via Feeding San Diego.
• Access weekly drive‑through distributions from Jewish Family Service.

The County remains committed to supporting the community through access to essential programs like CalFresh and Medi-Cal.
