So proud of Lady, a Shelter to Soldier rescue dog the Mission Beach Women’s Club sponsored. She’s about to be sent out on a 9-month deployment.

Lady is officially preparing for her first deployment aboard the USS Boxer in the next two weeks. She has become a steady source of comfort and connection for the Sailors and Marines she now serves.

As we think about the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to protect our country—especially in the current state of the world—it fills our hearts with gratitude knowing that Lady will continue to bring comfort and resilience to a crew of nearly 2,000 Sailors and Marines through her daily interactions.

This is what philanthropy is all about.

It doesn't get any better than this: Mission Beach Women's Club made the The New York Times! Congrats to the bride and groom, Julie Estrada Ewart and Bob Bishop who chose Mission Beach to have their wedding on the bay.

Julie Estrada Ewart, a single mother for 11 years, was not sure she would ever find true love. Enter Robert Bishop, a hockey coach who said he had been waiting his whole life for her.

The Mission Beach Women’s Club donated nearly $35,000 this fiscal year to local nonprofit groups, which is the mission of the club. This year, the club wrote checks to 19 groups totaling $34,663.
