Since 1974, National Volunteer Week has been an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. It takes place every April during Global Volunteer Month.

Each year, we shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in their communities.

In the next few weeks Volunteer with Cheli will be highlighting volunteers that consistently donate their time and talent to making a difference.

Volunteer with Cheli is excited to rally our community for an amazing opportunity!
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help keep the Fiesta Cinco de Mayo celebration sparkling in Old Town on May 3 & 4!

Be one of the unsung heroes who keep the party running smoothly, sustainably, and joyfully. ✨
💪 Wear comfy clothes, closed-toe shoes, and sunscreen—we’ll provide water, snacks, gloves, and a high-visibility vest!

📍 Meet us at the Old Town Chamber of Commerce booth (Harney St & San Diego Ave).

Volunteer shifts available:
🗓️ Saturday, May 3
• 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (2 volunteers)
• 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (2 volunteers)
• 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (2 volunteers)
• 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM (5 volunteers to help run carnival games!)

Santa’s Elves getting things in motion for Irish You a Merry Christmas celebration coming up Saturday, December 14 Mendoza Elementary School in Imperial Beach! What a beautiful sunny day for Volunteer with Cheli to help staff the San Diego Pride’s Volunteer Appreciation Picnic! Allowing staff to focus and pamper over 300+ volunteers! We welcomed Tina and Yoli to our VwC family! As always THANK YOU, James, Rod, Mike, Yoli, Shawn, Sue, Horacio and Tina. THANK YOU for allowing me to just sit and smile, knowing that you all had things in control.
