The San Diego Climate Mobilization Coalition is part of http://www.theclimatemobilization.org/ which is a worldwide movement out of New York City led by Climate Psychologist Margaret Klein Salamon, calling on the President, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to implement a World War II-scale National Mobilization to transition the U.S. off Fossil Fuels and onto clean, safe, Wind
, Water and Solar Renewable Energy at wartime speed, as computer modeled by Environmental Engineering Professor Mark Jacobson and his colleagues at Stanford University. On The Climate Mobilization.Org website is a Pledge that people can take to show their support for a World War II-scale National Mobilization. It is very important for individuals to take this Pledge because our elected officials are watching to see how many citizens want a Climate Mobilization. Naomi Klein, in her book, “This Changes Everything, Capitalism vs The Climate,” says that a citizen’s mass movement is necessary to end fossil fuels because the coal, oil and gas industries own the U.S. Congress. She says that about 3 per cent of the people are all that is required to make the change to Green Energy. In San Diego, 3 percent is about 30,000 people and the goal of the San Diego Climate Mobilization is to have Mobilization Rallies of 30,000 people. Nationwide, about 9 million people will be required to attend rallies in order to get the Congress to act. Just recently, the Democratic Party included in its National Platform a plank calling for a National Wartime Mobilization to combat climate change. And, also, Bill McKibben, author, environmentalist and leader of the anti-carbon group 350.Org, has recently written in The New Republic magazine that a World War II-style Mobilization is what we need to solve the climate crisis.
