Imagine a future that could predict a child's susceptibility of developing a particular before symptoms and early enough to take actions to escape exhaustive treatments to achieve a cure or possibly to even avoid death. Here is a strong case that is being made by a new Nature Communications study to include Genomic testing for some kids' cancers. Possibly AI could accelerate this process in the future.

"Genomic newborn screening is already being tested for rare actionable diseases. This study suggests selected cancer-risk genes may belong in that conversation when the variant is rare, the tumor association is strong, and early surveillance can plausibly reduce morbidity or mortality."

According to a recent survey, nearly half of U.S. adults believe that a child ringing a hospital bell after cancer treatment signifies the child is cancer-free and their medical journey is largely over. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Ctr Scientists Discover Hidden Way T Cells Attack Leukemia
T cells are generally thought to identify cancer through a well-established molecular recognition system. Yet when researchers removed a key part of that system from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells, the immune cells continued killing them. The unexpected result led scientists at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center to uncover an alternative route through which T cells may attack this aggressive blood cancer.
