Celebrating our Major Donors with a VIP Donor Appreciation Reception!

On August 11, over 40 of our most generous donors attended PLA’s second annual VIP reception at the home of Jeanette and Warren Goldfarb. It was a lovely gathering of people who have supported PLA over the years.

Catered by All Aboard Catering, a PLA business member, guests were treated to sumptuous food and a hosted bar surrounded by beautiful views of downtown San Diego and the harbor.

A warm welcome from our hosts was followed by a short program by Jeff Bolster, our new PLA President, and Pam Hamilton-Lester, Arts Committee. They shared upcoming projects, and celebrated the collective contributions of time, talent and resources provided by this important group of patrons.

Old and new friends enjoyed the evening. It reminded us all of the specialness of our PLA family and the amazing fortune of living in Point Loma.

Mean Greeners - This Friday, August 21, we will once again meet at 9:00 a.m. at our Liberty Station Monument Row work site, where the submariners' memorials are. There are two rows of memorials as well as 'eyebrow' beds. We pull weeds, trim plants, pick up trash, and sweep around the memorials. This area is near our rose garden, located in the large park that is adjacent to the water channel behind the white cannons. This week we will concentrate on the south side memorials.

Please bring your vest, gloves and favorite tools. We will have collection bags/bins on hand, as well as some tools to lend. If you are new to the group, we will lend you a vest.

Afterward, we will gather in the grassy park across the street from Con Pane (2750 Dewey Road) for refreshments and conversation. Please bring a lawn chair, as there is no public seating. You may get your drinks and snacks to go at Con Pane or at one of the other eateries in the area. If the park area is fenced off for an event, we will gather in the smaller lawn area right outside Con Pane.

We hope to see you Friday!

Thank you to all the PLA Business Members and guests who joined us for our recent Business Mixer at the historic Thursday Club. It was a beautiful evening to connect with fellow business owners, enjoy great conversation, and experience one of Point Loma’s most treasured landmarks.

Guests enjoyed delicious food prepared by Anne Herrin and her team of volunteers, beautiful floral arrangements from Jensen’s, and illuminated signage from So Cal Light Letters. Chris Erickson of The Thursday Club led tours giving guests the opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds and learn about the Club's history. We also heard from our new PLA Board Chair, Jeff Bolster, and Vice Chair, Jamie Saylor. And the evening concluded with our always-popular door prize drawing.

A special thank you to The Thursday Club for hosting us and to all who contributed their time, talent, and generosity to make the evening such a success.

If you have a business on the Peninsula and are not yet a Point Loma Association Business Member, we’d love to have you join us. Our mixers are a great way to connect with other local businesses, build relationships, and stay involved in the community.
