The Urasenke Chado Relay, which started as the North America Chado Relay, turned worldwide and became the World Chado Relay. Although the Relay ends, sharing bowls of tea with one another doesn't have to stop here. Please continue to share tea with one another along with the message of Love and Peacefulness with a Bowl of Tea.

We thank you for your on-going support and sincerely hope that the connections we have made over the past 9 months will continue to grow and deepen. Please think of the Urasenke World Chado Relay as your 'community' and we hope that you will suggest events, projects and activities that will promote the Urasenke Tradition of Tea. The World Chado Relay will soon reach its final destination next month in Japan. Gathered together, we are making a difference with a bowl of tea. Below is a message from the Urasenke Tankokai Chado Relay committee members:
Dear all Urasenke World Chado Relay participants,

I hope this email finds you well.
Nearly seven months have passed since the Chado Relay began in North America. After making a stop in each of the Tankokai Associations in the United States and Canada, it travelled south of the border to Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil, before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Spain.

2021 marks the 70th anniversary of Hounsai Daisosho's first visit outside of Japan to share the principles of "Harmony, Respect, Purity and Harmony" with the people of the world. From that first planting of seeds in Hawai'i, it is amazing to see how we now enjoy a magnificent garden of multi-colored flowers each reflecting the local terrain.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for your participation in making the World Chado Relay a success. Your energy and creativity have not gone unnoticed in Japan.

Please see an article from the March 2021 issue of Tanko Times, describing how in these unprecedented times the online Relay has become an important platform for bringing us closer together. We hope that you will continue to follow the Relay as it makes its final stop in Japan.

裏千家世界茶道リレーご参加の皆様、

皆様におかれましてはお元気にお過ごしのことと存じます。

茶道リレーが北米で始まってから約7ヶ月が経ちました。アメリカとカナダの各淡交会協会を繋いだ後、南の国境を越えメキシコ、ペルー、アルゼンチン、ブラジルに行ったバトンは、大西洋を越えてスペインに渡りました。

2021年は、「和敬清寂」の思いを世界の人々と共有するために、鵬雲斎大宗匠様が初めて海外を訪れてから70周年を迎えます。ハワイで撒かれた小さな種が地元の地形を反映し大きく成長した姿を見るのは嬉しいことです。

世界茶道リレーにご参加いただき、誠にありがとうございました。リレー成功に向けられた皆様のエネルギーと創造性は日本でも注目されています。

淡交タイムズの2021年3月号の記事をご覧ください。この前例のない時代に、このリレーが私たちを近づけるための重要な役割を果たしていることが説明されています。日本での最終ゴールを迎えるまで、引き続きリレーをフォローしていただきたいと思います。

The bowl of tea continues on in what is now known as the Urasenke World Chado Relay / 裏千家世界茶道リレー. Our friends and neighbors to the south (Mexico!) will resume the relay on Jan. 15. From there, it will continue down South America, then cross the Atlantic to Europe in February 2021. Stay connected and share your favorite tea moments to our FB and IG pages.

The Urasenke Tankokai North America Chado Relay / 裏千家淡交会北米茶道リレー has concluded. A big round of applause to all who participated, watched, Liked, Loved, Cared, Followed... Please continue to spread the spirit of Chado. It doesn't end here...it begins... with each ONE of you.

Continue to stay safe and healthy. Be kind and patient to your neighbors, your families, yourselves.

Thank you for being an important part of the Urasenke Tankokai Chado Relay.
Over the past four months, we have enjoyed learning about your activities, renewing old acquaintances and making new tea friends throughout North America.
But more importantly, you have been an important part in creating an online community joined together by the spirit of tea.
Though the Relay in North America ends in 2020, it will travel to other parts of the world in early 2021.

光陰矢の如し | Hard to believe only one more month left in the North America Chado Relay. Currently, the Relay is in San Francisco. You can always go back and view past city's relays on the Urasenke Tankokai North America Chado Relay / 裏千家淡交会北米茶道リレー.

It's only one month left for the North American Chado Relay, which I thought was just starting. I am looking forward to seeing the thoughtful posts from each association and group. Thank very much for your cooperation. Please have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving Day.

They will have Urasenke Tankokai ( ) organizations from all around North America post about their activities that connect people through tea and create friendship and peace throughout the community. 🍵
