Last Saturday, families came together in the community garden for the final session of our Art in the Garden series!

TLC is making space for new experiences this summer. 🎾💙

As part of our ongoing summer programming, the TLC High School Scholars spent time at Balboa Tennis Club, where they received a tennis lesson and time to play to put their new skills to the test.

For our scholars, who have been impacted by housing insecurity, opportunities like these aren’t always accessible. Creating access to enriching experiences is an important part of our summer programming. It gives our scholars the chance to try something new, explore their community, and simply experience joy with others.

We’re so grateful to Balboa Tennis Club for welcoming our scholars and helping make this experience possible!

Incoming: More summer adventures for our TLC High School Scholars!🦁🌿

As part of their ongoing summer program, our scholars spent the day exploring the San Diego Zoo. From seeing new animals to spending time together, the day was filled with opportunities to connect, explore, and make memories with their mentors.

The summer adventures continue for our High School Scholars!
As part of their ongoing programming, our scholars spent a day at the beach with Urban Surf 4 Kids for a surf lesson. For students who have been impacted by housing insecurity, opportunities like surfing may not be easily accessible.

Creating access to new experiences is an important part of our summer programming. Our scholars had the chance to get in the water, try something new, and enjoy a fun day together while building connections and making memories. We’re grateful to Urban Surf 4 Kids for partnering with us to make this experience possible. 💙🌊

We were proud to partner with the Karen Organization of San Diego on a community program that brought together food, resources, and hands-on STREAM learning for students of all ages.
While Karen Organization of SD connected families with essential food and resources, TLC created engaging, sensory-rich activities where students could explore, create, experiment, and learn together. We’re grateful for these partnerships that support the whole community and create meaningful opportunities for learning and connection. 💙

Our High School Scholars Program continues throughout the summer with regular group meetings, mentor check-ins, and enrichment activities that help students stay connected to their goals and to each other. As part of their summer programming, our scholars spent a day at the San Diego County Fair. They explored the fairgrounds, enjoyed the rides, food, and had the chance to relax, connect, and make memories together.

This is just one of the ways our scholars are spending the summer learning, growing, and exploring their community. We’re grateful to our mentors and community partners for helping make these experiences possible.
