Creating partnerships between affluent and underserved communities in San Diego County.

09/25/2026

Tomorrow, we are bringing people together for a conversation that is meant to lead somewhere.

At (Eco)Exchange™ 40: San Diego Civic Engagement Forum, we will explore important questions about our communities—and then work in Action Labs to help turn the conversation into practical next steps.

Some of the questions we will be working on include:

What would it take to build more equitable communities in San Diego—and where do we start?
How do we build a stronger, more durable model for how resources reach underserved schools?
How do we connect more underserved young people to paid internships, jobs, or work-based learning?
What is preventing a community entrepreneur from reaching the next revenue opportunity—and who can help?

If you care about community, opportunity, civic engagement, youth, schools, or entrepreneurship, this is a great chance to be in the room and be part of what comes next.

What happens after we connect people?

That question has become increasingly important to me.

We can hold events. Make introductions. Build relationships. Bring organizations together.

All of that matters.

But connection is not the same as outcome.

The real question is what those relationships actually produce.

Did someone get connected to a resource?
Did a conversation become a commitment?
Did the commitment become action?
Did something keep moving after everyone left the room?

That's why we've been developing the (Eco)System Engine at Sister Cities Project — a way of moving from:

Need → Connection → Commitment → Action → Outcome → Follow-up

And next Saturday, we get another opportunity to put that thinking into practice.

At (Eco)Exchange™ 40, we'll start with conversation. Then we'll move into Civic Power Action Labs where people can connect with real initiatives, people already doing the work, and practical opportunities to help move something forward.

The goal isn't another good conversation.

The goal is what happens because the conversation took place.

If you've been looking for somewhere meaningful to put your time, relationships, ideas or resources, come sit at the table.

This is the kind of community work we believe in.

On Saturday, July 11 at 5 PM, we’re encouraging our SCP community to show up for The Space Between: Black & Asian Men in Brotherhood — a powerful evening of film, dialogue, mental health, healing, and connection at Graffiti Gardens.

This gathering brings Black and Asian men together in story, vulnerability, and brotherhood — asking a question more of us should be asking:

What does healing look like when we don’t do it alone?

We’re especially grateful to support this event because Maxx Moses has been a friend, supporter, and collaborator of Sister Cities Project over the years. He is rooted in Southeast San Diego, the community SCP continues to stand with, invest in, and build alongside.

This is proximity.
This is understanding.
This is what it looks like when community doesn’t just talk about healing — it creates spaces for it.

Come as you are. Witness the stories. Be part of the conversation.

What does it mean to sponsor an Entrepreneur Innovators Brunch Series?

Black Women Entrepreneurs are one of the fastest growing group of Entrepreneurs in the USA. Sister Cities Project EcoHUB is designed to empower this innovative group of Entrepreneurs with a community of women who share a lived-experience and similar barriers to equitable access for everything from capital to business opportunities.

The Innovators Brunch Series is like a micro-incubator where business owners collaborate, discuss new product ideas, learn together and generate business opportunities. Your sponsorship enables us to create a welcoming and relaxing space with food and beverages that allow participants to take time to work on their business in a community setting that is devoted to their innovative businesses.

The Sister Cities Project EcoHUB goal is to provide a platform where Entrepreneurs grow their business into a generational wealth asset. Smaller businesses owners depend on these kinds of community-building events and collaborations to nurture their growth.

Most people celebrate America on July 4th.

Sister Cities Project is asking people to help build the promise on July 5th.

Today we launched The Day After: A July 5th Campaign to Finish the Promise — a campaign to raise $300,000 by October 2 to fund the next major phase of SCP’s work.

Your gift supports:

EcoExchange™ — bringing Black and white communities into real relationship.
EcoHub™ — supporting Black women entrepreneurs.
EcoAgency™ — creating paid pathways for Black youth and young adults.
Equitable Schools Fund™ — bridging school equity gaps across San Diego.

This is not about guilt.

It is about action.

Choose July 5th. Help us close the distance.
