In recognition of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to highlight what’s possible when real pathways to opportunity exist.

Through our partnership with Casa Familiar we’re empowering local talent in San Ysidro and building stronger communities through the skilled trades.

Meet Eduardo.

Through perseverance and hard work, he completed the Apprenticeship Readiness Program, earned industry-recognized certifications, and is now preparing to enter a union apprenticeship.

His story is simple: access creates opportunity.

Together with Casa Familiar, the San Diego County Building Trades Council, and the San Diego Workforce Partnership, we’re connecting community members to training, credentials, and career pathways that lead to lasting careers.

During National Women in Construction Week, we’re celebrating the women who are stepping into careers that have historically left them out — and the partners helping make that possible.

Women make up just about 11% of the construction workforce nationwide — and an even smaller percentage of registered apprentices in the skilled trades.

That gap isn’t about talent.
It’s about access.

Through ERiCA — Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeships — GFOF is working to expand pathways for women to enter, train, and advance in high-wage construction careers.

When women have equal access to apprenticeship opportunities, entire industries get stronger.

We’re not just celebrating women in construction this week.
We’re building systems that make their presence the norm.
